An Approach of Static Measuring Radial and Axial Runouts for Cylindrical Mills after Installation

An Approach that measuring static radial and axial runouts around rotational centre of spindle for cylindrical mills on milling machine was presented, its possible errors coming from imprecise location of gauge were theoretically analyzed. Milling force measuring experiments with variable feeds and cutting depths in low spindle speed was done to estimate the static runouts, these estimated values then were used to test the precision of measured values with this approach. Both results of theoretical analysis and experimental test showed that the relative errors of this measuring approach were small. This approach is to measure the runouts of installed mills, and its measured value is rather precise, its operation is simple, and it needs no special gauge. This approach can be used in study on force of cylindrical mills.

Study on Pepper Decorticating Technology and Equipment

This paper introduces the common ways for pepper decorticating and the current status of their applications and effects. According to the actual needs of market development and our analysis on peppers’ physical structures, three kinds of decorticating principles are put forward which include spiral, frictional and centrifugal decorticators and their mechanisms and advantages are analyzed in detail respectively, which will be highly instructive to the research of pepper decorticating equipment.

Design on Groove Curve in Typical Section for 3D Complex Groove Turning Inserts

This paper derives formula which computes the width of equivalent groove of the 3D complex groove of the indexable turning insert when cutting medium carbon steel uses the theory of chip curling and breaking. The formula was computed by MATLAB program. The calculation method of the width of equivalent groove is proposed. The cellular automaton model which designs the line-arc curve of groove of indexable turning insert with the 3D complex groove is established. One evolvement rule was confirmed and a program was designed to realize the dynamic evolvement and design of the groove curve. This research provides a base for the groove design and optimization.

The Measuring Method of Uniaxial Force Induced Error on CNC Machine Tool

The cutting force induced error has been more and more important as the increase of the cutting force, the hard cutting and hard cutting material used widely. The measuring system of uniaxial force induced error on CNC machine tool is put forward. the force application device is designed. Simulate the stress state of process system in the process of cutting. Get directly the value of the machine error. The uniaxial force induced error on CNC machine tool is measured by using the system. The research results provide the theoretical basis and method of measurement for uniaxial force induced error on CNC machine tool.

Experimental Study on Wear and Fracture of Ball-End Milling Cutter in High Speed Machining Stainless Steel 0Cr13Ni4Mo

An experimental study on wear and fracture of ball-end milling cutter in high speed machining martensitic stainless steel 0Cr13Ni4Mo is studied in this work. Through the SEM micrographs and energy spectrum analysis of the wear pattern of the rake face, severe coating spalling is found near the main cutting edge. Fracture is seen on the entire cutting edge, in which micro-chipping occurs on the both ends of the cutting edge, and chipping occurs in the middle of the cutting edge and is the conchoidal spalling on the rake face. Combined with the high-speed photography of the milling process, the fracture area is consistent with the chip-adhesion area.

Research on Transient Temperature Field Modeling and Simulation of Flat End Mill for High Speed Milling

In order to reveal the breakage mechanism of flat end mill under periodic thermal shock, transient temperature field model of chisel edge were established by heat source method, transient temperature field model of side edge were established along the sliced differential elements from the bottom of the flute toward the final axial depth of cut by means of line heat source. The simulation results show that transient temperature field prediction model can be used for prediction transient temperature field in high speeding.

Non-Standard Structure Design and Modal Analysis of Embedding Function Module of Tool Holder

According to the structure and characteristics of the HSK-A63 tool holder, we design and retrofit the non-standard tool holder with special function module. Establish and assemble three-dimensional entity models of embedded temperature measuring tool holder, ER collet/nut and flat end mill with Pro/E 5.0. Based on the establishment of the reasonable boundary conditions and meshing of the tool holder assembly, natural frequency and vibration modes of the tool holder assembly are calculated by modal analysis with the Ansys Workbench. These analysis results are the important research basis for the dynamic characteristics designing and dynamic balance researching to the tool system.

Research on the Cutting Force Induced Error Measurement Method of the CNC Machine Tools

The cutting force induced error has been more important as the hard cutting and hard cutting material used. This paper proposed the direct measurement method of cutting force induced error, which realized the corresponding directly of the cutting force and the value of error in the working process. According to the discrimination of machine error characteristics reflected by the different measuring methods, it puts forward to building the mixed error model based on the measuring technology of one dimension and two dimension. The results could provides the test data and theoretical basis for the mechanism of the processing performance affected by the dynamic behavior of machine tools.

Granite Step Gauge: A New Device for Error Measurement on CNC Machine Tools

A simple pitch error of lead screw error measurement based on the granite step gauge has been presented in this paper. This method has the advantages of easy operation, less time cost and also high accuracy. this method is expected to find wide applications in machine calibration, machine manufacture and error compensation.
