We report on the synthesis of different CuO nanostructures via a simple solution approach with high yield at low cost by reduction of CuCl2 aqueous solution with NaOH alkaline solution. The morphology of the CuO nanostructures is significantly influenced by the shape controller surfactant. Belt-, bambooleaf- and shuttle-like CuO nanostructures were synthesized by reduction of CuCl2 aqueous solution with NaOH alkaline solution in the presence of the surfactant PEG, CTAB and in the absence of surfactant at 75 °C, respectively. The Raman scattering investigations of the as-prepared CuO nanostructures show that the morphology and size of nanostructures have a great effect on the intensity of the two-phonon scattering band (2Bg) (multi-phonon (MP) transition) of the as-prepared CuO nanostructures. A tentative mechanism has been given for the formation of CuO nanostructures with different morphologies.

Surfactant-assisted synthesis of double-wall Cu2O hollow spheres

A facile room temperature solution route has been developed to large scale synthesis of double-wall Cu2O hollow spheres with the assistance of surfactant CTAB. The HRTEM image indicates that the as-prepared double-walled Cu2O hollow spheres are composed of small nanocrystals through aggregating. The experiments confirm that the single-wall Cu2O hollow spheres formed in the initial stage and then the CTAB layer (even multilayer) formed on the surfaces of single-wall Cu2O hollow spheres play key roles for the formation of the double-wall Cu2O hollow spheres. A possible growth mechanism has been proposed to illustrate the formation of double-wall Cu2O hollow spheres.

The fabrication, characterization of honeycomb-type porous Ag/N-TiO2 nanomaterial and its application in SERS study

Kun Liao; Yongchao Li; Xueqi Bai; Bin Zou; Guling Zhang

ABSTRACT Combined template method with sol-gel method to make the mixed solution including polystyrene microsphere emulsion, TiO2 sol and NH3·H2O aging at room temperature. Annealing at 500 centigrade for 2 hours on mesoporous TiO2 nano material doped with nitrogen. Wrapped Ag nanoparticles on the surface of mesoporous TiO2 nano material through redox reaction. The morphology and optical porosities were characterized by Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET tester and Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The results showed this material has excellent surface enhanced Raman effect, optical absorption effect and also has a great specific surface area.
