This paper presents a multi-objective optimization of HS-PMSMs (highly-saturated permanent magnet synchronous machines). In addition to typical optimization objects, such as cost, torque ripple, machine losses, power, etc., the capability to control the HS-PMSMs using self-sensing methods is considered. Instead of static magnetic anisotropies, which are commonly used for low-saturated PMSMs, dynamic magnetic anisotropies are introduced in this paper to define objectives for the SSCC (self-sensing control capability) of highly-saturated PMSMs properly. Moreover, torque ripple optimized carrier signal injection is taken into account in the stage of the machine design. One optimized design is selected from the pareto front and compared the reference design in this study. Results from the FE analysis confirm the good SSCC of the optimized design.
