Interactive data broadcasting services based on middleware technology in T-DMB

In this paper, we present the interactive data broadcasting service in T-DMB using middleware technology, which is known as T-DMB MATE (Mobile Application Terminal Environment). The T-DMB MATE defines a number of API to provide various applications with high-level functionalities for interactive data service, supporting a running environment of the applications. Specially, this paper introduces an implementation of T-DMB MATE receiver and some kinds of applications based on the designed T-DMB MATE service. Finally, the effectiveness of proposed service was verified by implementing the receiver and a variety of applications.

Implementation of the T-DMB Middleware Platform on the Receiver for Interactive Data services

In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of T-DMB middleware which provides receiver platform with a variety of interactive data services based on Java virtual machine, and provides applications with high-level functions such as platform control, broadcast protocol decoding, and application management. We also verify the designed T-DMB middleware through running test of its application on the special purpose T-DMB receiver being done to port it on.

Data Broadcasting Server and Receiver for Middleware based Data Services in Terrestrial DMB

In this paper we present a data broadcasting server and receiver that can be used for middleware based data services in T-DMB. The middleware for interactive data service in T-DMB is known as T-DMB MATE (mobile application terminal environment), defining a context for running the applications and APIs. The presented data server and T-DMB MATE receiver are effectively designed to supply applications through several way including broadcasting network and to execute on the various type of receiver, so that the high-level functionalities can be provided to users in the interactive data service. Finally, the performance of the implement system is confirmed through the T-DMB experimental data broadcasting.

Design and implementation of EPG (Electronic Program Guide) service platform in T-DMB

In this paper, we present an EPG (electronic program guide) service platform in T-DMB, which provides the detailed information regarding available service and program to the userpsilas terminal. The proposed EPG service platform is designed by using SI (service information) API included in the T-DMB middleware so that it can handle one or two kinds of data from either basic service information or standardized XML EPG. In other word, the proposed platform can provides the EPG services even in case where minimum information is delivered. Finally, the performance of the implement EPG service is confirmed through implementation of an application on the T-DMB service platform.

Effective algorithm and its implementation for inserting MPEG-TS into ensemble in DMB transmission system

This work presents an effective algorithm for inserting MPEG-TS (MPEG-2 transport stream) into the DAB ensemble, without any bandwidth waste, in a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) transmission system, and introduces a DMB stream caster which is implemented by using the proposed algorithm. The implemented DMB stream caster can be connected to a commercial DAB ensemble multiplexer, and the performance of the proposed algorithm is confirmed through experimental DMB broadcasting in Korea.
