Abstract This is the second report of the phytoseiids of Colombia. A new genus and species, Quadromalus colombiensis and Euseius ricinus n. sp. are described, bringing the total to 17 species of phytoseiids for Colombia.

Citrus groves in Florida were sampled during 1986 - 1990 to determine the distribution and abundance of the thrips species complex infesting closed buds and open flowers of citrus. Frankliniella bispinosa (Morgan) was the dominant species accounting for 92% of collected specimens from Dade to Volusia Counties. Frankliniella kelliae Sakimura was the second most abundant species comprising 7% of specimens collected. This species was not found north of a line between Manatee and Martin Counties. Low populations of 11 other thrips species were found. They appear to have no potential as pests of citrus flower buds or bloom. They included the phytophagous species: F. cephalica (Crawford), F. tritici (Fitch), F. insularis (Franklin), F. williamsi Hood, Thrips hawaiiensis (Morgan), Pseudothrips inequalis (Beach) and Haplothrips gowdeyi (Franklin). Predaceous thrips collected included: Scolothrips pallidus (Beach), Aeolothrips vittipennis Hood, Karnyothrips merrilli (Watson) and Leptothrips mali (Fitch).

Abstract Amblydromella Muma is revised and the following subgenera are described: Amblydromella Muma, Aphanoseia Wainstein, Lindquistoseia n. subgen., and Prasadoseia n. subgen. The monotypic genus Anthoseius De Leon is similar to Amblydromella, but can be separated on the basis of the shape and length of the dorsal setae, short, thick legs, width of peritreme, modified cheliceral denticles, a ventrianal shield that is often fragmented, presence of z3 in protonymph (absent in protonymph of Amblydromella), host plant, and geographical distribution

Field specimens ofEuseius mesembrinus (Dean) from Florida and Texas were found to be morphologically similar regardless of differences in the lengths of dorsal shield setae or the St IV macroseta. Populations from both states were reproductively compatible. Taxonomic characters ofE. mesembrinus were illustrated using both light and scanning electron microscopy. Lengths of dorsal shield setae and the macroseta on the tarsus of leg IV of field-collected specimens from Florida and Texas, laboratory cultures, and their crosses (F1) showed inconsistent variance. Multivariate analysis of variance and canonical discriminate analysis revealed that the source of variance can be attributed to ecological factors. The results suggest that the two populations are the same species and support the possibility that the Florida population originated from Texas.

Abstract The genus Galendromus is revised, a new subgenus Ennoseius is described, subgenus Mugidromus Tuttle and Muma is synonymized under Leonodromus Muma, G. deleoni Tuttle and Muma is synonymized under G. pomi (Parrott), G. loculus Denmark and Muma is synonymized under G. flumenis (Chant), G. ruralis De Leon and G. delicatus De Leon are synonymized under G. herbertae (Chant), G. tuttlei Denmark, n. sp., G. negundinis Denmark, n. sp., G. bromus Denmark, n. sp., and G. bakeri Denmark, n. sp., are described. Eighteen other species are redescribed. A neotype is designated for G. mexicanus Muma.

Abstract The genus Okiseius Ehara with the type species Okiseius subtropicus Ehara is revised. Two subgenera are proposed: Okiseius s. str. and Kampimodromellus Kolodochka and Denmark subgen. n. These Kampimodromus-like species differ from Kampimodromus by having seta J2 missing. Okiseius formosanus Tseng (1972) does not belong in Okiseius, as it has no lateral acute incision posterior to R1, and S5 missing. Eight known species are redescribed and illustrated: O. subtropicus Ehara, O. eharai Liang and Ke, O. chinensis Wu, O. morenoi Schicha, O. maritimus (Ehara) comb. nov., O. domatorum (Schicha) comb. nov., O. alniseius Wainstein and Beglyarov, and O. tibetagramins (Wu) comb. nov.; four species are reported but not illustrated: O. juglandis (Wang and Xu), O. himalayana Gupta, O. yazuliensis Gupta, and O. sikkimensis Gupta. Two new species are described and illustrated: Okiseius wui Denmark and Kolodochka and Okiseius wongi Denmark and Kolodochka. The females are keyed to subgenera and to species.

Abstract Phytodromus was proposed by Muma (1961) for Amblyseius leucophaeus Athias-Henriot. This genus is revised, Phytodromus allenrolfius Denmark n. sp. described and the following species redescribed and transferred from Amblyseius to Phytodromus: P. dodonaeae (Schicha), P. harveyi (McMurtry and Schicha), P. queenslandensis (McMurtry and Schicha), P. sinaiticum (Amitai and Swirski), P. houstoni (Schicha), and P. cataractus (Ueckermann and Loots). A key to species is provided.

ABSTRACT The genus Typhloctonus Muma is redescribed and includes 11 described species. Typhloctonus prunus Denmark and Rather is proposed as a new species. All species are described and except for vollsella Chaudhri are illustrated. A key to species is provided. Some species formerly placed in Typhloctonus are placed in other genera. New combinations are, Tasmanidromus cottieri (Collyer) and Neoseiulellus nesbitti (Womersley).
