Thispopulation on the island of Nax1dtaholm is presentlythe only known population of B. laetum inFennoscandia and the most northern record inEurope. The main distribution of the species isconcentrated in eastern Northern America, where itis a common weed in dry, disturbed habitats such astrails, road banks, and lawns (Crum & Anderson,1981). Southernmost localities in the New World arein Mexico (McFarland, 1994). Besides America, thespecies has been reported from central and southernEurope (Orgaz et al., 2012), the Caucasus andSouthern Ural Mountains in Russia (Ignatov M Orgazet al.,2012). The new record was collected from the TurkuArchipelago, south-western Finland, from rich decid-uous forest, growing on calcareous soil, a habitat thatis rather rare in the country.2. 1. Anomobryum julaceum (P.Gaertn., B.Mey. & Scherb.) Schimp. Contributors: H. Bednarek-Ochyra and R. Ochyra Îles Crozet: ÎLE DE LA POSSESSION: beginning of southern tributary of the river leading to Cirque de la Chaloupe, north of Grotte du Geographe, 46u259S 51u509E, 260 m a.s.l., rock in stream, associated with Bryum argenteum var. muticum, B. dichotomum, Blindia magellanica and Bucklandiella didyma, 20 February 1979, Bell 2505B (AAS, KRAM). Anomobryum julaceum is essentially a pan-Holarctic disjunct oreophyte which often penetrates into the tropics where it is fairly frequent at high elevations in the mountains, including Central and South America (Ochi, 1980), Africa (Ochi, 1972) and Malesia (Koponen & Norris, 1984; Eddy, 1996). In the temperate and polar regions of the Southern Hemisphere the species is almost absent and so far it has been recorded only once from Subantarctic Marion Island in the Prince Edward Islands archipelago in the Kerguelen Province of the Subantarctic (Ochi, 1972; Ochyra, personal observations). Nonetheless, this record makes A. julaceum a bipolar species with numerous intermediate stations in tropical mountains. Here, its range is expanded to the Îles Crozet archipelago in the same phytogeographical province of the Subantarctic which is situated over 1000 km to the east from the Prince Edward Islands. The moss was found to grow on rock in a stream, apparently in a moist habitat as evidenced by rather many cyanobacteria, intermixed with Bryum argenteum Hedw. var. muticum Brid.

Hitherto Bucklandiella crispipila has been considered an Afro-American tropical montane species, widely distributed but scattered in Central (Frisvoll, 1988; Allen, 2002) and South America (Bednarek-Ochyra, Ochyra & Buck, 1999) and in the East African mountains (Ochyra, 1993). The discovery of the species at an altimontane elevation in New Guinea represents a considerable extension of its range, and consequently the phytogeographical status of B. crispipila has to be redefined as pan-tropical montane. After B. subsecunda (Hook. & Grev.) Bednarek-Ochyra & Ochyra and B. emersa (Müll.Hal.) Bednarek-Ochyra & Ochyra, it is the third species of the genus occurring in Malesia.

Romania: SOUTHERN CARPATHIANS: Muntii Retezat, shore of the mountain Lake Galeo 16 August 1978, J. Sofron BM 127/2 (PL). Dichelyma capillaceum is an amphi-Atlantic species occurring in eastern North America from Newfoundland to Manitoba and south to Florida and Louisiana (Crum and Anderson, l981; Ireland, 1989; Hedenäs, Godow & Hylander, 1996). It has a narrower range in Europe, where it occurs in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Russia (Toivonen, 1972), Poland (Szafran, 1961) and from single sites near Cologne in Niedersachsen in northern Germany (Duell, 1992) and in Eyre, France (Augier, 1966). It is also reported doubtfully from the Ionian Islands in Greece (Duell, 1995). Lake Galeo is situated in the crystalline part of the Retezat range. It grows near the shore in oligotrophic water to a depth of about 30 cm. D. capillaceum has not been recorded in the latest catalogue of Romanian bryophytes (Mohan, 1998), so the specimen collected by J. Sofron must be considered as the first record of this species from this country and the Southern Carpathians (Transylvanian Alps).
