Simple approximation to continuum random phase approximation (RPA): Application to the giant dipole resonance in 16O

N. Teruya; H. Dias; A. F. R. de Toledo Piza

Abstract We implement a reaction-theory based version of the continuum random phase approximation (RPA) approach to the microscopic structure of nuclear giant resonances in its simplest form. This involves a discrete RPA diagonalization of standard size but involving complex matrices so as to account for single-particle resonance widths. Escape widths of individual resonant structures in the case of the giant E1 strength in 16O are obtained in reasonable agreement with available data. The overall strength distribution agrees with that obtained in full continuum RPA calculations.

LINDEN: Code for level density calculations of deformed nuclei using Lipkin–Nogami projectors in the BCS approach

O. Rodriguez; F. Garcia; H. Dias; J. Mesa; J.D.T. Arruda-Neto; E. Garrote; F. Guzmán

Abstract A numerical code to evaluate the level density for deformed nuclei based on the semimicroscopical combined method is presented. It includes the use of combinatorial and statistical approaches for low and high energies respectively; both calculations are carried out in the framework of the BCS with the Lipkin–Nogami pairing model.

Semi microscopic description of84Kr

H. Dias; F. Krmpotić; L. Losano; R. C. Mastroleo

The experimental information on the84Kr nuclei is compared with the model calculation in which two neutron holes are coupled to the vibrational field. Based on the lower-order terms of a perturbative expansion of theE2 andM1 transition matrix elements, a simple rule is obtained for the sign and the magnitude of theδ (E2/M1) ratios for the transitions between the second and first 2+ states in some vibrational nuclei.[Nuclear structure84Kr, calculated levelsJ, π and δ(E2/M1), Cluster-phonon model. Pairing interaction].
