Engineering support for business process analysis and (re)design: progress report on the Testbed project

In the ACM Siggroup Bulletin of April 1997 we announced the start and objectives of the Testbed project. We now report on the results achieved so far. Testbed stand for virtual test environment for business processes. Testing takes place outside the actual business operations, using understandable models built and analysed with a ready-to-use methodology and supporting tools. The main users are business consultants. In Testbed major Dutch companies from financial service sector participate, being ING Group, ABP and the Dutch Tax Department. Furthermore IBM and Telematica Instituut participate, the latter being the initiator of the project. Testbed has been validated successfully in practice by working out several pilot projects. Besides the results achieved so far, we also present our plans for the future and indicate where further literature can be found.
