Phosphonium–betaine (ylide–carbene) complexes have been synthesised via nucleophilic attack by P(OR)3 on a σ-π-acetylide complex Fe2(CO)6(CCPh)(PPh2), and a single crystal X-ray study of the triethylphosphite derivative Fe2(CO)6{C[P(OEt)3]CPh}(PPh2) has con-firmed the presence of a new type of 2-carbon, 3-electron ligand.

Binuclear iron carbonyl complexes containing ammonium 1,3-dipoles as bridging one-carbon, three electron ligands have been synthesised; the complex [Fe2(CO)6{CH·C(Ph):NEt2}(PPh2)]·C6H6(III) has been characterised by single crystal X-ray diffraction.

Unusual phosphinoacetylene–iron carbonyl complex: synthesis and X-ray structure of [Fe3(CO)7{Ph2PC(CO2Me)C(CF3)C2(CF3)}(PPh2)]2C6H6

Dodecacarbonyltri-iron reacts with 3,3,3-trifluoropropynyldiphenylphosphine to give a trinuclear iron(O) complex having the Fe3(CO)12skeleton, a new type of delocalized 4-carbon chain, a bridging dipheylphosphido-ligand, and a methoxycarbonyl group derived from both the methanol used as a stabilizer for [Fe3(CO)12] and a CO molecule.

Novel intramolecular rearrangements in a trinuclear iron complex derived from a phosphino acetylene

Abstract An X-ray structural study of the trinuclear complex Fe 3 (CO) 7 [Pn 2 PC 4 (CF 3 ) 2 PPh 2 (I) has shown that the conversion of another trinuclear complex Fe 3 (CO) 8 [Ph 2 PC 4 (CF 3 ) 2 ]PPh 2 (II) to (I) involves intramolecular CO elimination, metalmetal bond formation and novel structural changes in a diphenylphosphide bridge.
