Spin-Orbit Interaction In Self-Consistent Fields

Although much effort has gone into the calculation of self-consistent fields by the Hartree, Hartree-Fock, and Hartree-Fock-Slater methods (l) since the advent of automatic digital computers, little attention has thus far been paid to the use of such solutions for fields and radial functions to calculate spin-orbit interaction parameters. This paper is a report on some calculations we are making on this subject.

Preface to Topics in Modern Physics , A Tribute to Edward U. Condon

The papers in this volume were prepared as a tribute to Prof. E.U. Condon by his associates on the occasion of his becoming professor emeritus in the Department of Physics and Astrophysics in the University of Colorado in the summer of 1970. He has also been given the title of fellow emeritus by his colleagues in the Joint Institute of Laboratory Astrophysics of the National Bureau of Standards and the University of Colorado.
