Predictions of the static quark model on boson decays

H. Pietschmann; W.E. Thirring

Abstract Some decays of the 36 q q mesons are calculated within the static quark model. Introducing as new parameter the radius of the wave function we calculate the V-γ vertex, the P→2γ, the P→μ+ν and the η→2π+γ decays.

On the isovector form factors of the nucleon

A.P. Balachandran; H. Pietschmann

Abstract This paper is devoted to the discussion of the equal time commutation relation for the isospin density and the consequences it implies for the isovector form factors of the nucleon. It is shown that in the one-nucleon approximation a set of equations may be derived from this commutation relation which are adequate to determine the functions F 1 v ( s ) and F 2 v ( s ) provided we assume the isovector magnetic moment to be a given parameter. A comparison of the results obtained with the experimental data is also carried out.

Top-quark pair production via polarized and unpolarized protons in the supersymmetric QCD

Yu Zeng-Hui; H. Pietschmann; Ma Wen-Gan; H. Liang; Jiang Yi

Abstract. The QCD corrections to the top-quark pair production via both polarized and unpolarized gluon fusion in pp collisions are calculated in the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM). We find that the MSSM QCD corrections can reach 4% and may be observable in future precise experiments. Furthermore, we studied CP violation in the MSSM. Our results show that the CP-violating parameter is sensitive to the masses of SUSY particles (it becomes zero when the c.m. energy is less than twice the masses of both the gluino and the stop quarks) and may reach

Pair production of neutralinos via gluon-gluon collisions

Jiang Yi; Ma Wen-Gan; H. Liang; Yu Zeng-Hui; H. Pietschmann

The rules of scientific discovery as formulated by K. Popper are briefly reviewed. Historical examples such as the prediction of planets and outstanding events in elementary particle physics are used to show how these rules are applied by the working physicist. Thus these rules are shown to be actual tools rather than abstract norms in the development of physics.

Weak mesonic currents of second class

H. Pietschmann; H. Rupertsberger

Abstract The equal time commutation relation for the isospin density and the consequences it implies for the isovector form factors of the nucleon are investigated. The functional equations for the form factors which have been previously derived in the one-nucleon approximation are partly solved in closed form. The next term of the series, the pion-nucleon intermediate state, is completely resolved yielding a connection between the amplitudes for the electro-production of pions and the isovector form factors.

DETERMINATION OF THE SLOPE OF THE POMERANCHUK-TRAJECTORY FROM HIGH ENERGY ELASTIC SCATTERING

G. Czapek; G. Kellner; H. Pietschmann

The production of a neutralino pair via gluon-gluon fusion is studied in the minimal supersymmetric model(MSSM) at proton-proton colliders. The numerical analysis of their production rates are carried out in the mSUGRA scenario. The results show that this cross section may reach about 80 femto barn for
