Cycloaddition reactions of 5-(2-thienyl)methylene derivatives of thiazolidinone-4-thiones and their antimicrobial activities.

The cycloaddition of the newely synthesized 5-(2-thienyl)methylene derivatives of thiazolidinone-4-thiones,2a−c to acrylonitrile (3a), ethyl acrylate (3b), N-phenylmaleimide (6) and dimethyl fumarate (8) has been evaluated. Under thermal reaction conditions [4+2] cycloaddition proceeds with complete site and regioselectivity to yield the cycloadduct,4, 5, 7 and9, respectively. The antimicrobial activities of some of the new products were tested.

THE STEREOSPECIFITY OF THE CYCLOADDITION OF 5-ARYLIDENE-2- THIAZOLIDINONE-4-THIONE DERIVATIVES TO ELECTRON-DEFICIENT OLEFINS

Abstract The cycloadditions of 5-arylidene-2-thiazolidinone-4-thiones and their 3-phenyl derivatives la-d to maleic and fumaric acid esters have been investigated. The stereochemistry of the reaction products indicates a concerned mechanism.

Synthesis of the biologically active 5-(indolyl-3-methylene) thiazolidine-2,4-dione derivatives

Abstract The cycloaddition reaction of the biologically active 5-(indolyl-3-methylene) derivatives of thiazolidi-none-4-thiones 2a-c to acrylonitrile, ethyl acrylate, N-phenylmaleimides and dimethyl fumarate has been evaluated.

Reactions with 2-Phenylhydrazono-4-thiazolidinone and its Derivatives

2-Phenylhydrazono-4-thiazolidinone (1) and its 5-substituted derivatives (4) and (6) were cyclized by formaldehyde or aromatic aldehydes to afford the corresponding 2-phenyl-tetrahydrothiazolo[2,3-c]-1,2,4-triazol-5-ones (2, 3) and (7). Compounds 3 were also obtained by the action of aromatic aldehyde on 2-phenyltetrahydrothiazolo[2,3-c]-l2,4-triazol-5-one (2).

Reactions with 5-Arylmethylene-2-phenylhydrazono-4-thiazolidinones A Novel Synthesis of Thiazolo[2,3-c]triazine Derivatives

The 5-arylmethylene derivatives of 2-phenylhydrazono-4-thiazolidinone (1) reacted with phenacyl bromide and with ethyl bromoacetate to yield the thiazolo[2,3-c]triazine derivatives (3) and (4). The reaction of 1 with carbon disulphide in alkaline solution afforded the bis(N1- 2-phenylhydrazono-4-thiazolidinone)thiocarbonyl derivatives (6). Cyanoethylation of 1 afforded the N1-β-cyanoethylphenylhydrazono derivatives (7).
