Development of Multimedia Contents System for Gogurye Ancient Tomb Mural

Yong-Hwan Lee; YuKyong Lee; Han-Jin Cho; June-Hwan Lee

In this paper, we design and develop an educational virtual system which can experience Goguryeo tomb murals in the virtual world. Goguryeo tomb murals are well known in the world, and they are registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site by the value Acknowledged worldwide. We design an user-friendly interface for Goguryeo tome murals by Flash, and make a modelling and rendering with 3D Max. In addition, we create an educational animation with Adobe Premiere. We choose some of items such as Goguryeo tomb murals, historical sites, high-level description of periodization, Goguryeo`s clothes, home, play as sub-themes, and we develop a system with detailed views and informations for the daily life of the people of Goguryeo.

Implementation of Educational Service for Environmental Saver using Smart Device

Yong-Hwan Lee; Han-Jin Cho; June-Hwan Lee

Various efforts are being made to live a Green life began to recognize an importance of eco-friendly living. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a mobile-based environmental keeping education service, which is offered well-defined category searching and environmental outreach related designed categories, for the purpose of supporting distribution of educational application. The implemented prototype system not only plays a function of environmental pollution report, related to simple environmental stewardship schemes, but also provides environmental monitoring service and integrated educational system supporting certified online volunteer activity. This study provides an one of famous methods to the youth for environmental monitoring education system based on mobile environments, and suggests an improvement to the environmental education for schools students.

In this paper, we propose gradient detection system of the vertical straight line using the Hough transform after extracting from the color images. The input color images can be used to a method for detecting a gradient from only the luminance component of an image. In edge detection, traditional method of the mask of vertical edge detection can detect with the one direction of the image change but proposed method can detect bi-direction. Since the Hough transform is required much time for processing, our method can be improved processing time through experimentally calculating valid pixel.

Advanced face recognition and verification in mobile platforms

Yong-Hwan Lee; Hyochang Ahn; Han-Jin Cho; June-Hwan Lee

Purpose – This paper holds a big advantage to enable to recognize faces, regardless of time and place. Also this provides an independent performance of smart phone, because of its process by a computer of third party not by that of the mobile device. In addition, it is desirable to minimize the expensive operations in mobile device with constraint computational power (i.e. battery consumption). Thus, the authors exclude the process of transmission failed from the input device. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – In this paper, the authors have proposed a new face detection and verification algorithm, based on skin color detection to enable extracting the face region from color images of the mobile phone. And then extracted the facial feature as eigenface, verified whether or not the identity of users is right, applied support vector machine to the region of detected face. Findings – The experimental results for two datasets show that the proposed method achieves slightly ...

A RSSI-Based Approach for Localization of Wireless Sensor Network in Indoor

Hyochang Ahn; Yong-Hwan Lee; Han-Jin Cho; Sang-Burm Rhee; June-Hwan Lee

The interest in sensor network has increased as it moved into Ubiquitous Computing era recently. Especially various researches using localization have done lively. In this paper, it abstracts location information by using the RSSI value received from the cluster which a mobile node belongs to in order to minimize diffraction, reflection, and diminution phenomena of frequency. It judges the location of node by the center of gravity of received router nodes by giving them a higher weight to closer router nodes. It proposes a method that uses beacon scheduling method to extract location information through low-power sensor networking by converting to low-consumption power mode unless it is for communication.

Efficient Object Localization using Color Correlation Back-projection

Yong-Hwan Lee; Han-Jin Cho; June-Hwan Lee

Localizing an object in image is a common task in the field of computer vision. As the existing methods provide a detection for the single object in an image, they have an utilization limit for the use of the application, due to similar objects are in the actual picture. This paper proposes an efficient method of object localization for image recognition. The new proposed method uses color correlation back-projection in the YCbCr chromaticity color space to deal with the object localization problem. Using the proposed algorithm enables users to detect and locate primary location of object within the image, as well as candidate regions can be detected accurately without any information about object counts. To evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, we estimate success rate of locating object with common used image database. Experimental results reveal that improvement of 21% success ratio was observed. This study builds on spatially localized color features and correlation-based localization, and the main contribution of this paper is that a different way of using correlogram is applied in object localization.
