Geun-Young Doe; Han-Seok Lee; Yun-Gyu Lee; Hyong-Ki Lee

Indoor air pollution has been a critical issue as a new environmental problem and a significant amount of research has been performed on the indoor air pollution in buildings as well us those in mean of transport such as automobiles, subways, and buses. The actual condition of indoor air pollution in ships, however, was not investigated. Because airtightness of a ship is very higher than a general building and the crew spend almost all the time in indoor space of the ship during underway, indoor air quality(IAQ) of the ship is very important for their comfortableness and health. In this paper, indoor air quality of a new ship is measured and analyzed for the improvement of IAQ in ships.

A Study on Improvement of Coastal Landscape Management Systems in Busan City

Han-Seok Lee; Geun-Young Doe; Jurng-Jae Yee; Na-Young Kim

The purpose of this study is to propose new systems for improvement of coastal landscape management in Busan area. The coastal landscape management systems in Busan are divided into urban planning sector, coastal management sector and environmental preservation sector without any comprehensive lay or integrated management system. These findings indicate that the coastal landscape is in need of integrated management in the form of coastal management rather than urban planning because coastal landscape os different from urban landscape by nature. The coastal landcape management ordinance which is based on the Coastal Management Ant should be established and the special zoning system for costal landscape management is to be set up under this ordinance. Then the comprehensive landscape plan for Busan coastal area and the design guidelines for each zone are mandatory. Also Busan city government and the district office must have a responsible department, experts and coastal landscape review committees.

Analytical Study of the Customer Satisfaction for Public Marina by application of the Designated Management System in Japan

Wonjo Jung; Han-Seok Lee; Myung-Kwon Lee

【In general, Introducing of the Designated Manager System (DMS) of public facilities has been promoted as part of administrative reforms for planning improvement of service for customers by a private and budget cuts of operations management. DMS has begun to be introduced to the public marina facilities in earnest in 2006, it is evaluated positive about efficiency in terms of business(budget cuts). However, there is no discussion about efficiency (likes service satisfaction of client-side) from the marina whose major job is service. The primary purpose of this study is to clarify the benefits and challenges as a result of the Designated Manager System (DMS) launch implemented by local governments, following the relevant amendments to the Local Government Law. The second purpose is to clarify, from the viewpoint of users, what changes have taken place after the DMS launch, focusing on public marinas operated under the DMS. As for the primary purpose, the study is intended to clarify the economic benefits of the DMS and the significance of the DMS launch at a prefectural government level. This will help us assess whether it would be worthwhile to encourage private companies or non-profit organizations (NPO) to participate in the management and operation of public facilities under the DMS scheme. Most of the studies to date have examined the benefits of the DMS launch, focusing on the economic benefits for local governments. This study is intended to clarify the benefits and disadvantages to users of the DMS launch from the viewpoint of users.】

A Study on Guidelines of Tourism Development in Korea and Japan

Wonjo Jung; Han-Seok Lee; Myung-Kwon Lee

Fishing village is becoming the central base of fishing industry and it plays a major role. However, there is a decrement of marine resources and some difficulties with the deterioration of fishing industry management. In order to solve these problems, there should be some developments(e.g. fishing village toursim development) on various undergoing government and the private organization programs. Nevertheless, there are not guidelines for fishing village tourism development to utilize for practical business. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the current status and guidelines regarding the development of fishing village for coastal planner. The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of fishing village development works in Korea and Japan. The second purpose is to identifie success factors after analyzing individual success cases. Based on evidence from the literature and a dialogue with village leader, a literature review on extracting success cases for guidelines were selected according to criteria such as the degree of contribution to an increase in income of the fishing village, the degree of contribution to an increase in consumption of marine products using local natural resources, the number of tourists that visits the village. Finally we propose guidelines for future fishing village development projects. The guidelines based on the successful cases, as well as the major factors about the objectives and direction of fishing village tourism development, suggested as follows. 1)Plans for land use, 2)Development of tourist resources, 3)Plans for views, 4)Plans for resource protection, 5)Plans for operation and marketing.
