Fuzzy risk analysis based on a geometric ranking method for generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers

Emrah Akyar; Handan Akyar; Serkan Ali Düzce

In this study, we present a new method for ranking generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers based on the incenter and inradius of a triangle. The proposed method is simple and easy to apply to real life problems. The method can also rank crisp numbers and fuzzy numbers with the same centroid point. Some comparative examples are also given to illustrate the advantages of the proposed method. Based on the proposed ranking method, we also give an application to the fuzzy risk analysis problem.

Fuzzy Risk Analysis for a Production System Based on the Nagel Point of a Triangle

Handan Akyar

Ordering and ranking fuzzy numbers and their comparisons play a significant role in decision-making problems such as social and economic systems, forecasting, optimization, and risk analysis problems. In this paper, a new method for ordering triangular fuzzy numbers using the Nagel point of a triangle is presented. With the aid of the proposed method, reasonable properties of ordering fuzzy numbers are verified. Certain comparative examples are given to illustrate the advantages of the new method. Many papers have been devoted to studies on fuzzy ranking methods, but some of these studies have certain shortcomings. The proposed method overcomes the drawbacks of the existing methods in the literature. The suggested method can order triangular fuzzy numbers as well as crisp numbers and fuzzy numbers with the same centroid point. An application to the fuzzy risk analysis problem is given, based on the suggested ordering approach.

A NEW METHOD FOR RANKING TRIANGULAR FUZZY NUMBERS

Emrah Akyar; Handan Akyar; Serkan Ali Düzce

The ranking and comparing of fuzzy numbers have important practical uses, such as in risk analysis problems, decision-making, optimization, forecasting, socioeconomic systems, control and certain other fuzzy application systems. Several methods for ranking fuzzy numbers have been widely-discussed though most of them have shortcomings. In this paper, we present a new method for ranking triangular fuzzy numbers based on their incenter and inradius. The proposed method is much simpler and more efficient than other methods in the literature. Some comparative examples are also given to illustrate the advantages of the proposed method.

Brown–Robinson method for interval matrix games

Emrah Akyar; Handan Akyar; Serkan Ali Düzce

In this paper, two-person interval matrix games are considered, and by means of acceptability index, Brown–Robinson method to find a mixed-strategy equilibrium is adapted to interval matrix games. Numerical examples are also given.

A Graphical Method for Solving Interval Matrix Games

Handan Akyar; Emrah Akyar

2×𝑛 or 𝑚×2 interval matrix games are considered, and a graphical method for solving such games is given. Interval matrix game is the interval generation of classical matrix games. Because of uncertainty in real-world applications, payoffs of a matrix game may not be a fixed number. Since the payoffs may vary within a range for fixed strategies, an interval-valued matrix can be used to model such uncertainties. In the literature, there are different approaches for the comparison of fuzzy numbers and interval numbers. In this work, the idea of acceptability index is used which is suggested by Sengupta et al. (2001) and Sengupta and Pal (2009), and in view of acceptability index, well-known graphical method for matrix games is adapted to interval matrix games.

On Stability of Parametrized Families of Polynomials and Matrices

Handan Akyar; Taner Büyükköroğlu; Vakif Dzhafarov

The Schur and Hurwitz stability problems for a parametric polynomial family as well as the Schur stability problem for a compact set of real matrix family are considered. It is established that the Schur stability of a family of real matrices 𝒜 is equivalent to the nonsingularity of the family {𝐴2−2𝑡𝐴
