In this paper, we study a green supply chain network design problem with environmental concerns. We are interested in the environmental investments decisions in the design phase and propose a multi-objective optimization model that captures the a compromise between the total cost and the environment influence. This work addresses the optimization of the supply chain design considering economical and environmental issues. We explicitly consider two objective functions. The first one, measures the total cost: fixed setup cost, environmental protection investment, transportation cost, logistics cost, waste treatment cost and energy consumption cost. The second one, measures the total CO2 emission in all the supply chain. The strategic decisions considered in the model are warehouses and distribution centers location, building technology selection and processing/distribution planning.

This paper introduces an iterative two-phased approach to decide on the centralisation versus decentralisation of the hospital sterilisation service department. The first step consists in searching for the optimum configuration that minimises the sterilisation activity cost, while the second step consists in finding the adequate dimensioning of that optimum configuration. The motivation of this study is embedded on the practical needs of Tunisian hospitals. The developed approach is based on two mathematical programming models. Abstract This article addresses the challenges of appointment scheduling of inpatients and outpatients with stochastic service times in a multistage integrated surgical suite. It takes into account the availability and compatibility of resources, with the presence of a variety of patient types. Twelve appointment heuristics are proposed and evaluated by means of a discrete event simulation model, in terms of expected patient waiting time and expected surgical suite completion time. These heuristics are further compared with a lower bound obtained by a mixed integer program. The computational experiments are based on real data of a hospital-integrated facility within an ophthalmology surgery department in a Tunisian hospital.

The Pickup and Delivery Problems (PDP) represent an important class of Vehicle Routing Problems (VRP) in which goods must be collected and distributed. In this paper, we propose an approach which is based on the combination of Genetic Algorithm (GA) with the clustering algorithm for the optimization of multi-vehicles, multi-depots, pickup and delivery problem (m-MDPDP). The main contribution is to find new depot locations in order to obtain feasible solution (routes) for the m-MDPDPTW. These routes satisfy transportation requests without contravening any of the instance specific constraints.

Abstract Waterways sediments is an example of a valuable material that can be recycled. In this study, Design Chain Network of recycling waterways sediments is presented to determine a logistic strategy for real world recycling company in France, and to analyse the influence of integration of environmental taxes on supply chain design decisions. We propose a strategic model for supply chain design with consideration of CO2 emission taxes, multi-modality and the different logistics costs. We show how these features are formulated in a mixed integer programming (MIP) model, thus capturing the role of the environmental taxes and the transportation modes in the strategic design of a supply chain. The models are solved by commercial software Cplex 10.1 and the computational results are compared. The study is followed by the analyses of the results.
