DARSTELLUNG UND π-ELEKTRONEN-STRUKTUR VON 1,2-DITHIOL-3-THIONOXIDEN [1,2-DITHIOL-3-YLIDEN-SULFINEN]

Abstract 1,2-Dithiole-3-thiones 1 give by careful oxidation with peracids the corresponding 1,2-dithiole-3-thione-S-oxides 5. Hitherto always only one of the possible stereoisomeric Z- or E-forms could be isolated. A comparative study of the 1H- and 13C-NMR-Spectra of the sulfine 5a with the trithione 1a, resp. of 5c with 1c, illustrates that the sulfinyl-group in contrast with the thiocarbonyl-sulfur will increase the electrondensity in the heteroring. 1,2-Dithiol-3-thione 1 gehen bei der vorsichtigen Oxidation mit Persauren in die zugehorigen 1,2-Dithiol-3-thion-S-oxide 5 uber. Bisher wurde jeweils nur eine der beiden moglichen stereoisomeren Z- oder E-Formen isoliert. Vergleichende 1H- und 13C-NMR-spektroskopische Befunde am Sulfin 5a mit dem Trithion 1a bzw. von 5c mit 1c belegen, das die Sulfinyl-Gruppe gegenuber dem Thiocarbonyl-Schwefel in den 1 die Elektronendichte im Heteroring erhoht.

Electron-spectroscopic evidence for an unsymmetrical structure for 2,5-dimethylthiathiophythen

The electronic polarization spectrum of 2,5-dimethylthiathiophthen (II) suggests an unsymmetrical structure of the molecule in its electronic ground state.
