[Studies on the binding of steroid hormones to human pregnancy proteins. I. Identification of pregnancy-associated beta1-glykoprotein with the steroid-binding beta-globulin (author's transl)].

Hans Bohn; Th. Kranz

SummaryThe binding of the steroid hormones estriol, 17β-estradiol and testosterone to pregnancy proteins SP1, SP2 and SP3 has been investigated. Antigen solutions containing all three pregnancy proteins in equal amounts were incubated with the radio-labelled steroid hormones. The bound steroids were detected by autoradiography after the proteins had been precipitated with specific antisera in the gel diffusion test, resp. after electrophoretic separation in agar. All three pregnancy proteins interact with steroid hormones. SP2 which strongly binds testosterone and estradiol showed the highest affinity; this protein proved to be identical with the steroid-bindingβ-globulin (SBβG).The affinity of SP1 and SP3 for the steroids is less pronounced. SP3 contrary to SBβG binds estriol more strongly than testosterone or estradiol. Alle drei Schwangerschaftsproteine lagern Steroidhormone an.
