12-Cylinder hydrogen engine in the BMW 750hL

Andreas Schüers; Alois Abel; Hans Fickel; Michael Preis; Reinhard Artmann

Even after more than 100 years of development, the internal combustion engine has still not exhausted its potential. Hydrogen as a source of energy will introduce a new era. Internal combustion engines are ideally suited for the transition to the hydrogen environment as they can be adapted to bi-fuel applications with minimum expenditure. For more than 20 years, BMW has been developing and promoting the use of hydrogen in motor vehicle applications and has consequently assumed a pioneering role in this technology.
