Interaction pattern gathering in service-oriented applications

A.M.S. Filho; Hans Kurt Edmund Liesenberg; R.S.M. Barros

Application integration is a challenge and continues to be for the next few years. The industry is still figuring out how to best address the challenges of application heterogeneity through modern integration tools and service-oriented and event driven architectures. We are experiencing a new paradigm shift. However, the impact of service-oriented technology is evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Companies need to support enterprise service buses and selectively apply business component design practices and Web services. This paper addresses how interaction patterns in service-oriented applications can be gathered and discusses related collaboration patterns.

Designing user interface for Web interactive systems

A.M. da Silva Filho; R.S.M. de Barros; Hans Kurt Edmund Liesenberg

The user interface design aims at enabling work and other activities to be performed more effectively, efficiently and with more enjoyment and satisfaction. The user interface of multiuser Web applications is a medium where all objects being shared on it can be viewed independently from the geographical location and its users can interact with each other in real time. Designing such an interface for users working collaboratively requires dealing with a number of issues. Herein, our concerns lies on the control component of human-computer interaction design and corresponding user interface (UI) software that implements it. Our interactive systems development process based on the MPX Mapping from PAN (Protagonist Action Notation) into Xchart (eXtended Statechart) is used to improve the product quality. Then, we illustrate this methodological approach through a case study of a Web interactive system.

AN USE CASE ABOUT EVENT-BASED SYSTEMS APPLIED TO SERVICES-ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE AT SERASA EXPERIAN

Carlos Neves Júnior; Hans Kurt Edmund Liesenberg

This article describes the experience and deliverables of a research supported and sponsored by Serasa Experian as part of its program for incentive of academic research. The aim of this project was to introduce the event driven architecture story to the company and how it extends the service-oriented architecture. In order to achieve this main objective, a real use case of an event-based system based on corporate scenarios at Serasa Experian was modeled and implemented using an integrated development environment (IDE) that is part of this research. This IDE based on Eclipse offers support for development of distributed event-based systems and has visual editors for modeling and specification of these systems. The use case was also deployed on a controlled runtime environment also described in this article, so its execution and the deployment effort could be simulated and tested. This paper presents the contributions of this experience of implementing a real corporate event flow and how this opportunity influenced this work.

YAI: creation of open learning resources by aggregating metadata to shared educational contents

Osmar Mantovani; Hans Kurt Edmund Liesenberg

Class preparation can often be quite time-consuming and includes the gathering of different sources as well as the transformation of selected contents into new contents better suited to specific contexts of use. An infrastructure is presented that allows to: (a) share contents produced by the community and held in an open directory, and (b) create complex open learning resources by aggregating metadata to open contents that are useful for guided tours within the open directory. Annotated trails cross the hierarchical structure of the directory in order to show to the user how different contents might relate to each other.
