The properties of a new chromogen for the estimation of blood sugar by the glucose oxidase-peroxidase method.

A method is described which uses the ammonium salt of 2,2′-azino-di-[3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-(6)-sulphonic acid] as a redox indicator for the photometric determination of glucose with glucose oxidase and peroxidase. The sensitivity of this method is more than four times better than the method using o-dianisidine. The test solution including all reagents necessary for the determination of glucose is highly stable.ZusammenfassungDie Verwendung des Ammoniumsalzes der 2,2′-Azino-di-[3-äthyl-benzthiazolin-sulfonsäure-(6)] als Redoxindicator zur photometrischen Bestimmung von Glucose mit Glucoseoxydase und Peroxydase wird beschrieben. Die Empfindlichkeit der Methode ist mehr als viermal größer als bei Verwendung von o-Dianisidin. Die Reagenslösung, die sämtliche zur Bestimmung notwendigen Reagentien enthält, zeichnet sich durch gute Haltbarkeitseigenschaften aus.

In an extensive screening of chromogens for the determination of glucose in blood according to the GOD/POD-method a heterocyclic azine (diammonium salt of 2,2′-azino-di-[3-ethylbenzothiazoline-(6)-sulphonic acid)] has been found which satisfied all conditions. The properties of the new chromogen are superior to those of o-dianisidine used hitherto.ZusammenfassungIn einem umfangreichen screening von Chromogenen auf Eignung in der Blutzuckerbestimmung nach der GOD/POD-Methode konnte ein heterocyclisches Azin, das Diammoniumsalz der 2,2′-Azino-di-[3-äthylbenzthiazolin-sulfonsäure(6)] gefunden werden, das allen Kriterien dieses screening genügte. Dieses Chromogen ist aufgrund seiner Eigenschaften dem bisher allgemein verwendeten o-Dianisin überlegen.
