The China Business Model#R##N#Originality and Limits | 2017
Harish C. Chandan; Riturpana Das
The Chinese state-centric corporate social responsibility (CSR) model is different from market-based model in the United States and the relational model in the European Union. In the government-planned economy of China, the most important driver for the evolution of CSR is the Chinese government through its policy and regulatory framework for creating a harmonious society through CSR. The government has initially encouraged state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to implement CSR practices. The internationally accepted corporate sustainability frameworks, including the UN Global Compact (UNGC), Global Reporting Initiative (G4-GRI), and ISO 26000 are becoming accepted frameworks for large corporations in China. The consumer perceptions of CSR include the “required CSR” (economic and legal responsibilities) and “expected CSR” (ethical and philanthropic responsibilities) in all regions of China.
