Cleavage site specificity of vertebrate collagenases.

Harold Weingarten; Joseph Feder

A series of synthetic peptide substrates for vertebrate collagenase having the structure Ac-Pro-Leu-Gly-X-Leu-Gly-OC2H5, where X is Leu, Ile, Val, Phe and Ala, have been prepared. Collagenolytic enzymes from various sources cleave these substrates with differing relative rate patterns. This series of peptides should be valuable for characterization of collagenases.

Gas chromatographic analysis of Chlorinated Biphenyls

Harold Weingarten; William D. Ross; James M. Schlater; Guthrie. Wheeler

Abstract Capillary column gas chromatography is reported as an analytical method for biphenyl, the 3 monochlorobiphenyls and the 12 dichlorobiphenyls. Two complementary columns were used permitting, in effect, total resolution.

Synthesis and Reactivity in Inorganic and Metal-organic Chemistry | 1971

Organometallic Enamines and Imonium Salts from Enamines and Inorganic Halides

Harold Weingarten; Janice S. Wager

Abstract Enamines react with groups IV and V halides to form organometallic imonium type salts and organometallic enamines. This reaction is a potentially useful method of grafting organic functionality onto inorganic systems.

Synthesis and Reactivity in Inorganic and Metal-organic Chemistry | 1972

Functional Derivatives of Phosphorus: Preparation of OP(CH2COOH)3 and C6H5P(O) (CH2COOH)2 and their Amides

Harold Weingarten; Janice S. Wager

Abstract The preparation of OP(CH2COOH)3 and C6H5P(O) (CH2COOH)2 and their corresponding N,N-dimethylamides is described.

Synthetic Communications | 1971

The Conversion of 1,3-Cyclooctadiene to 1-Vinylcyclohexene

J. C. Duggan; Harold Weingarten

Abstract The sensitized photolysis of cis-cis-1,3-cyclooctadiene yields bicyclo [4.2.0]octene-7 (1), efficiently and in good yield.1 We have found that 1 may be converted very simply into 1-vinylcyclohexene (3) 2 via bicyclo [4.2.0] octene-8 (2).

Journal of The Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications | 1970

The reaction of enamines with inorganic halides

Harold Weingarten; Janice S. Wager

Enamines react with Group IV halides to form organometallic immonium type salts and organometallic enamines.
