Fukuzo Itoh; Haruo Shiba; Masashi Hayama; Takateru Satoh

The specifications of R-DAT cartridges and tapes have been set by common consent in a DAT conference held in Japan. A study committee has been studying, the details of the specifications. A cartridge size of 73x54xlO.5mm has been decided based on the results of a questionaire conducted on all members of the DAT Conference. The cartridge has a dust-free structure with its inside equipped with a brake to prevent the hub from rotating freely and its outside, the lid and slider. Magnetic-metal-powder coated tapes are used for recording, and a recording tape 13um (nominal) tick will provide a recording time of two hours.
