Immunohistochemical Examination of S-100 Protein and Substance P in the Inner Ear of the Rat

S-100 protein and substance P in the inner ear of the rats on decalcified specimens was investigated immunohistochemically. Immunoreactivity of S-100 protein and substance P was found in various parts of inner ear tissues. These results suggest the possibility of immunohistochemical study of decalcified and paraffinized inner ear tissues.

Die Verfasser haben die Entstetehung der Latenzzeit des kalorischen Nystagmus ausfuhrlich untersucht, wie alle Teile des Vestibularissystem sich dabei beteiligen, und einige folgende Befunde berichtet.1) Das Warmeleitungssystem (ausserer Gehorgang, Trommelfell, Schlafenbein) spielt eine grosse Rolle.2) Latenzzeit und Nystamusdauer verlaufen in einer bestimmten Korrelation.3) Die echte Latenzzeit hat den wichtigen diagnostischen Wert.

Diagnostic Value of Dp Phenomenon in the Nystagmic Reaction

(1) DP phenomenon shows no direct relationship to a lesion in a particular part of a particular hemisphere, as previously reported by Hakas & Kornhuber. (2) The region of responsibility for the development of DP will be located in some parts level with the subcortical area or the brain-stem. (3) By the use of focused ultra-sound irradiation, pronounced DP to the side of the lesion could be observed from the lesions of the lateral portion of ponto-mesencephalic reticular formation in the rabbit.
