The integration of numerical calculation methods is gaining importance in the layout process of modern high-speed diesel engines (HSDI). Higher demands are being made on the quality of the simulation results, especially with regard to the thermal structure analysis. This enforces the development of improved methods and simulation tools. In this process, heat transfer is of significant importance as the central issue.

Besonders bei der thermischen Bauteilanalyse werden standig steigende Anspruche an die Qualitat der Simulationsergebnisse gestellt. Dies erfordert die Entwicklung von verbesserten Methoden und Simulationsmodellen. Dabei kommt dem Warmeubergang als zentralem Thema besondere Bedeutung zu. Thus, a holistic simulation of all systems in the vehicle becomes increasingly important during the engineering process for handling the multifaceted interdependencies among the systems correctly and more efficiently. As a consequence more complex multidisciplinary system simulations need to be implemented.
