The Orinda Study.

Henry B. Peters

The Orinda Study was the first interdisciplinary effort to establish the validity of a vision screening protocol and led to the development of the clinically based Modified Clinical Technique (MCT), a protocol that has been in widespread use for the past 24 years. This paper reviews the original thoughts behind the study and its accomplishments and assesses the impact of the study on vision screening. Future obligations of optometrists and other vision screeners are discussed in view of the past benefits of the study.
