Abstract The synthesis of 5,8-dihydro-4 H -1,3-dioxocins 2 and 5,6-dihydro-4 H -1,3-dioxocins 3 is described. 2-Substituted tetrahydropyran-3-carbaldehydes are obtained by acid-catalyzed rearrangement of 3 .
