Remix e sampling: identidades e memória dos DJs na música eletrônica

This research deals with the use of sampling and remix techniques as part of the creative processes in electronic music that, in certain cases, brings memories and musical identities. Based on Cultural Studies, this research investigates the hybridity in music productions made by four brazilian DJs: KL Jay (Racionais MC’s), Alfredo Bello (DJ Tudo), Luana Hansen (DJ and MC) and Rodrigo Gorky (Bonde do Role and Fatnotronic) – whose subjectivities are noted in sampling using and/or remixing. The ideia is understand how musical memory provides to the disc jockey certain elements that articulate hybridities in the musical language. Thus, the eluded aspect of these artists’ identities, that operates on hybrid substances of their songs, subverts standardization and hegemonic discourses in media culture.

A personagem adolescente como protagonista em quatro filmes brasileiros contemporâneos

Com o objetivo de estudar a representacao do adolescente no Cinema brasileiro em quatro filmes recentes, esta pesquisa teve como base a analise de conteudo de vies qualitativo para realizar a analise dos signos visuais e sonoros. Apos historico da presenca do jovem na tela, sao feitas analises sobre as tematicas, a direcao de arte e a trilha sonora nos filmes Antes que o mundo acabe (Ana Luiza Azevedo, 2009), Sonhos roubados (Sandra Werneck, 2009), Os famosos e os duendes da morte (Esmir Filho, 2009) e As melhores coisas do mundo (Lais Bodanzky, 2010). Nesses filmes, as diferencas regionais e sociais possibilitam perceber uma rica pluralidade de representacoes da juventude brasileira.With the aim of studying the representation of teenagers in Brazilian Cinema in four recent films, this research was based on content analysis with a qualitative bias to carry out an analysis of visual and audible signs. After a history of the presence of young people on the screen, the themes, art direction and soundtrack in the films Antes que o mundo acabe (Ana Luiza Azevedo, 2009), Sonhos roubados (Sandra Werneck, 2009), Os famosos e os duendes da morte (Esmir Filho, 2009) and As melhores coisas do mundo (Lais Bodanzky, 2010) are analyzed. In these films, regional and social differences make it possible to notice a rich plurality in the representation of Brazilian youth

Capas de disco da gravadora Continental nos anos 1970: música popular e experimentalismo visual

In this article, I propose to discuss some innovations in album covers from a set of experimental artists of Brazilian popular music (MPB) in the 1970s, released by Continental label, based in Sao Paulo. Those album covers, whose design tried to translate to the visual field the aesthetic projects of composers and musicians, were inspired by the counterculture, in attempt to create new forms of expression during the military dictatorship. Four artist’s albums will be analyzed: Walter Franco, Tom Ze, Secos & Molhados, and Novos Baianos. The album cover will be thought not only as a commercial package, but as an element of aesthetic, taste and consumption mediation within the media field of song as well.
