Improving the Control Strategy of a Standalone PV Pumping System by Fuzzy Logic Technique

This work aims to develop an accurate model of an existing Photovoltaic Pumping System (PvPS) which is composed of an Ebara Pra-0.50T Asynchronous Moto-Pump (AMP) fed by Kaneka GSA-60 photovoltaic panels via a Moeller DV-51 speed drive. The developed model is then used to compare the performance of the system with its original control strategy based on classical indirect vector control strategy using PI speed controller and the proposed new control strategy based on Fuzzy Logic control technique for speed control and MPPT system. The obtained results of comparative simulations, induced in different dramatic variation of working conditions, show that the developed control strategy brought major enhancements in system performance.

Energy Management Strategy of a PV/Fuel Cell/Supercapacitor Hybrid Source Feeding an off-Grid Pumping Station

This work aims to develop an accurate energy management strategy for a hybrid renewable energy system feeding a pumping station. A developed model under Simulink environment is used to compare the performance of the pumping system when it is only fed by a photovoltaic generator, by a hybrid photovoltaic and fuel cell system and finally by a hybrid photovoltaic, fuel cell and a supercapacitor system. The developed control strategy is based on Fuzzy Logic control technique. Several simulations in different dramatic scenarios of working conditions show that the developed control strategy brought major enhancements in system performance and that the use of the supercapacitor makes economic profits by reducing the fuel cell production during critical solar irradiation periods.

Fuzzy logic control scheme for a 3 phased asynchronous machine fed by Kaneka GSA-60 PV panels

This paper provides different results of simulations developed with MATLAB-SIMULINK environment consisting of modeling and controlling a photovoltaic system composed by Kaneka GSA-60 panels and supplying a 3 phased asynchronous machine. In order to maintain the best possible performance for a standalone functioning in different weather conditions; without using storage solutions; we have developed different parts of controlling system. The presented results show simulations of the developed model and the controlling system ; based on fuzzy logic technique; comparing its performance with and without Maximum Power Point Tracking system in different scenarios of solar irradiation and temperature variations.

Enhancing classic IFOC with Fuzzy Logic technique for speed control of a 3∼ Ebara Pra-50 moto-pump

This work presents the results of integrating a Fuzzy Logic controller instead of a classic PI controller in an IFOC speed regulation scheme dedicated for a 3 phased asynchronous moto-pump type Ebara Pra-50. A comparative study between the two different techniques is presented where a simulations by simulating the developed model of the studied system under Matlab-Simulink environment. The obtained results shows the performance of the speed control system in different scenarios and the utility of the developed Fuzzy controller.
