On the Stress Distribution in a Rotating Thick Circular Disk of Constant Thickness

In the discussion of the stress distribution in a rotating circular disk, it is usually assumed, that the thickness of a disk is small in comparison with its radius and the stresses do not vary along its thickness. However, in this paper, we considered the same problem assuming only that the distribution of stresses is symmetrical with respect to the axis of rotation and have obtained the exact solution of a circular disk or a short circular cylinder of constant thickness, which is free from surface tractions. Numerical calculations are carried out in the particular case where the thickness is equal to the diameter.

On Bending and Torsion of Perforated Thin Plates

This paper deals with the problem of the infinite thin plates with the hypotrochoidal hole subjected to 1) transverse bending and 2) twisting. In the first and second parts, using the Poisson-Kirchhoffs theory, the finite expressions of stress resultants were obtained and their distributions were computed especially along the boundary of a near rectangular hole with rounded corners. In the third part, the stress resultants of the same plates having a reinforced part around the hole were considered. The results of these problem were shown graphically and the stress concentration was plotted as a function of ρ0/l or ρ0/h where ρ0 is the radius of the curvature of rounded corners, l, the width of the hole and h, the length of a diagonal.
