Using large-sized Li2B4O7 crystals, 0.43 J, 266 nm pulses are obtained from a 10 Hz Nd:YAG laser with a total conversion efficiency of 30.5%. Moreover, 4 W operation for over 15 h is demonstrated.

Large-aperture Ce 3+ :LiCaAlF 6 power-amplifier module development for the TW ultraviolet femtosecond CPA laser system

Hidetoshi Murakami; Shingo Ono; Yuji Suzuki; Toshimasa Kozeki; Hideyuki Ohtake; Nobuhiko Sarukura; Hiroki Sato; Susumu Machida; Kiyoshi Shimamura; Tsuguo Fukuda

Coaxially-pumped large-aperture Ce3+:LiCaAlF6 power-amplifier module for the TW ultraviolet CPA laser system is demonstrated to have 98-mJ output with 25% extraction efficiency. Additionally newly-in vented homogeni zed- gain, side-pump, power-amplifier scheme for further energy scaling is successfully operated.

Phase-Matching Condition of Terahertz Generation of CdTe with Near-Infrared Pulse Excitation

Shingo Saito; Masaya Nagai; Atsushi Syouji; Hideyuki Ohtake; Toshiaki Bessho; Toshiharu Sugiura; Tomoya Hirosumi; Makoto Yoshida; Koichiro Tanaka; Kiyomi Sakai

The enhancement and spectral change of terahertz wave generation were observed under the phase-matching condition of 1mm-thick 110 CdTe wafer and NIR laser pulse excitation. For terahertz generation and tuning, the phase-matching condition is important.

Compact THz radiation source from an InAs in a 2-T permanent magnet irradiated with 1.04-µm femtosecond fiber laser pulses

Hideyuki Ohtake; Yuji Suzuki; Nobuhiko Sarukura; Shingo Ono; Akio Nakanishi; Takeyo Tsukamoto; Seiji Nishizawa; Michelle L. Stock; Makoto Yoshida; Heirich Endert

Intense THz radiation is generated from an InAs emitter in a 2-T magnetic field irradiated with 1.04-µm, 80-fs, 180mW, fiber laser pulses. The THz radiation can beeven detected by a pyroelectric thermal receiver.

High-average power mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser with newly-invented intra-cavity cm-amplification scheme

Zhenlin Liu; Shinji Izumida; Shingo Ono; Hideyuki Ohtake; Nobuhiko Sarukura

We have demonstrated high-average power mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser with newly-invented intra-cavity cw-amplification scheme. This scheme can be applicable for the power scaling of other lasers.
