Service-oriented computing and cloud computing offer many opportunities for developing and deploying applications. In this paper, we propose and describe a component-oriented method for automated provisioning of cloud business applications. The method covers the whole application’s lifecycle and is based on cloud orchestration tools that manage the deployment and dependencies of supplied components. We aim to reduce the necessary technical knowledge for provisioning component-oriented cloud applications. To this end, we extend Linked Unified Service Description Language to describe services for matching user’s requirements. We adopt a real case study to show the feasibility of the method.

The emission of CO2 due to ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) is found as equivalent to aviation sector. Although the energy consumption in ICT is due both to hardware and software. In recent decade, the energy efficiency studies focus on the hardware part, especially with the development of cloud computing. Indeed, it is the software application that is responsible for executing tasks, that indirectly affects the hardware energy consumption. This work focus on software energy consumption. We introduce a methodology which evaluates and improves the software greenability by considering its energy consumption, performance and readability. Contrary to existing methodologies, we associate the effect of several components (CPU, memory, disk and network) when estimating software energy consumption instead of considering only the CPU as it is the case in literature. Moreover, the proposed framework can dynamically examine source code to integrate some measurement functionality. A Tool to Estimate Energy Consumption (TEEC) is implemented and its applicability is demonstrated on the case of cloud-based business application provisioning software, called MADONA. MADONA allows dynamically generating service-oriented business applications by automatically composing business services and automatically deploying the generated applications on cloud environment.

Business Process-Based Legitimacy of Data Access Framework for Enterprise Information Systems Protection

Hind Benfenatki; Frédérique Biennier

Nowadays European context is introducing a new directive for data protection, which imposes new constraints to business owners which manipulate personal data. Among imposed constraints, we find that while a disclosure occurs on user’s personal data, the burden of proof is now in the charge of business owners. In this context, data access has to be managed according to what is mentioned in Terms of Service and logged in a way to prove the occurrence of a disclosure or not. This work, part of Personal Information Controller Service project proposes a data-driven privacy control system, based on Collaborative Usage Control (CUCON), allows organizations to manage the access authorizations they provide to stakeholders. The proposed system intervenes in two contexts, which are ad-hoc business processes and while using big data techniques. In fact, new data usage introduces changes in usage-based models since used systems are usually distributed and involving several organizations which can have different definitions for a given role. This framework manages the consistency between already allowed data access rights and potential given rights to a given business stakeholder according to business process’s activity affected to him/her. It also warns when a conflict occurs and when the aggregation of the rights granted to a given stakeholder lead to having rights to a sensitive data.

Automatic Software Development as a Service (ASDaaS)

Hind Benfenatki; Catarina Ferreira da Silva; Nabila Benharkat; Parisa Ghodous

Cloud computing has emerged as a new paradigm allowing sharing resources via flexible delivery models, and-pay-as-you-use economics. Cloud computing offers many advantages for Software Engineering, such as small initial investment, no license acquisition, accessibility from everywhere and every time, high availability and so on. However, Software Engineering has to face the new challenges imposed by the Cloud Computing paradigm and overcome the lack of methodology for developing services-oriented applications in Cloud environments. We describe a new methodology for collaborative software development in the Cloud, and present the proposed architecture for this methodology, called â??Automatic Software Development as a Serviceâ?? (ASDaaS). The goal of ASDaaS is to popularize business process development in the Cloud and make it accessible to business stakeholder via an automated development process. In fact, in companies it is the business stakeholders who create business workflows. With Cloud Computing and the convergence toward Everything as a Service â??XaaSâ??, we no longer consider the classical context of software development, where IT teams or integrators are solicited to perform software development. ASDaaS addresses the challenges of interoperability, independence of a specific platform, and respect of the distributed nature of the cloud environment. Collaboration in ASDaaS is depicted as composition of cloud services published by several cloud providers. ASDaaS is itself composed of a set of services which can carry out and cover the whole process of software development. For application deployment, the ASDaaS automatically selects IaaS provider following Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and user preferences.
