There is provided an audio output apparatus capable of providing an effect, with a limited number of speakers, as if the person displayed on the display screen is really speaking. When the television conference is started with a communication partner through a set top box, the image of the communication partner is displayed on the image displaying reflective plate. At the same time, ultrasonic waves superposed with the voice of the partner are emitted from a left speaker and a right speaker. The sound emitting directions of the left and right speakers are directed toward the image displaying reflective plate on which the partner is displayed. The ultrasonic waves emitted from the left and right speakers are reflected by the reflective plate and proceed toward the listener who can hear the voice of the partner as if the voice is directly emitted from the reflective plate.

A system for having a mode for registering storing a necessary typical spoken word pattern for use in speech recognition and inputting a same spoken word a plurality of times. In the mode for registering a word pattern, a previous input spoken word, input prior to the Nth time, is reproduced. After listening to the reproduced spoken prompt word, the Nth input of the same spoken word is effected. The system registers one typical spoken word of a well-averaged voice pattern with high accuracy while increasing the system speech recognition rate.

Abstract An external quantum efficiency as high as 5×10 −4 at room temperature are reported for a ZnS blue light-emitting diode. Several diode properties as well as photoluminescent properties are investigated. The behavior of the blue emission favor the donor-acceptor emission mechanism due to the isolated Al donor and the Al-Zn vacancy complex acceptor. This mechanism is consistent with the observed high efficiency at room temperature.

A speech recognition system comprises input unit for inputting speech words, analyzing unit for analyzing and patterning the speech words inputted by the input unit, first memory unit for storing the patterns of the speech words analyzed and patterned by the analyzing unit, and second memory unit for storing each as the speech words inputted by the input unit. The system also comprises address specifying unit for specifying the same address of the speech words analyzed and patterned and stored in the first memory unit and the speech words stored in the second memory unit the content of the address specifying unit being updated in response to each of the speech words inputted by the input unit, and voice output unit for outputting the speech words stored in the second memory unit addressed in accordance with the content of the address unit.
