Searching blog sites with product reviews

Hironori Kuwata; Makoto Oka; Hirohiko Mori

Recently, buzz marketing sites gives the information that is useful for consumers and companies. They want to customer feedbacks of feeling and experience. However, the searched results contain huge numbers of commercial sites when user search review with traditional search engine. We search blog site that include review sentence. We need to decision whether document of blog site include review sentence. Thus we think that two process to decide blog site whether review blog site. The first process creates to data set for certain product that viewpoint feature word. In this paper, feature word is tow term in the evaluated perspective word and evaluated value word. Data set is information for making decision sentence whether review sentence. Second process is a search for review sentence. This process decided blog site whether review blog site. This process use extracted opinion tuples from one sentence of blog site document and created data set to decide sentence whether sentence is review sentence. This process decided review blog whether document of blog site include one and more review sentence. We proposed review blog site searching system that system have two process.

Manipulation with Fingers in a 3-D Physical Space

Yuki Kanai; Makoto Oka; Hirohiko Mori

Recently, input devices in a three dimensional physical space become popular. However these devices get used only with easy interaction and do not get used for complex interaction yet. In this study, proposes a character recognition technique drawn in a three dimensional physical space considering wearable computing environments. The input device that we developed is worn to a finger. The sensor used the acceleration sensor. The recognition rate is verified through the experiment. As a result of doing various experiments, the recognition rate was 65%.

A Study on Color Conversion for Color Deficient People to Identify Color

Makoto Oka; Naoki Ozawa; Hirohiko Mori; Akito Sakurai

The sensitivity of the M-cones and L-cones of an anomalous trichromat is lower than that of normal trichromats. By intensifying the light to the cones with lower sensitivity, the output ratio from the cone approached the level of a normal trichromat, and it was presumed that achieving close to original color recognition was a possibility. In order to increase luminous intensity, in the LMS space, the boundary was set as the plane surface representing pseudoisochromatic color, and the distance from that plane was expanded. When making large changes in light intensity near the surface representing pseudoisochromatic color, improvements in color differentiation and degree of color identification were observed. We plan to implement this method in mobile devices and to evaluate the experimentation results.

Liquid Tangible User Interface: Using Liquid in TUI

Masahiro Hotta; Makoto Oka; Hirohiko Mori

In recent years, tangible user interface (TUI) has been paid attention on as a next generation user interface. In most TUI researches, solid body is mainly used as manipulators to assist interaction and they do not focus on “liquid”. So, I focused on liquid as real world object, and I proposed the interaction using liquid in TUI and confirmed advantages of the interaction. As the result, there are some advantages in the adjustment of a sensuous amount comparing solid TUI.

Transferring tacit skills of WADAIKO

Makoto Oka; Asahi Mizukoshi; Hirohiko Mori

The techniques are acquired through repetition of such copying and passed on in this intuitive way. As even the experts acquired them by intuition, the techniques are difficult to put into explicit knowledge, forms of word or value. To solve the problem, recently there are numerous attempts to turn the techniques into explicit knowledge for preservation and transmission thereof. However, current situation is that not all of the knowledge is conveyed by unsuccessfully forcing tacit knowledge (skills) into the disguise of its explicit counterpart. It is necessary to preserve the tacit knowledge learned by experience and intuition and convey it in a way understandable. Techniques refer to postures and motions of experts. Motions of the experts striking a Wadaiko are extracted as data, which is used in developing an instruction system of passing on the techniques of the experts to novices. Finally, it is verified whether the novices have acquired the techniques through the system.

Measurement and evaluation in service engineering

Sakae Yamamoto; Miki Hiroyuki; Hirohiko Mori

This paper discusses how to advance the service engineering research. The service engineering is still established as study, and has not been completed. However, it dared to take up how to advance the service engineering research. As for the reason, the following three points are thought. First of all, the methodology of an original service engineering cannot establish it yet. The secondly, researchers involved in the service engineering have taken an active part to the research in various fields. Thirdly, the service engineering is researched therefore based on each ones current knowledge. It has been thought that it is necessary to devise a method that manages to be unified. Of course, what respect you should note while thinking about the system of the service engineering now is described. Especially, it is thought that the finding of a deeply related field to the Ergonomics is needed in the service engineering.

A study on selection ability in the 3D space by the finger

Ryuta Yamada; Makoto Oka; Hidetaka Kuriiwa; Hirohiko Mori

Intuitive gestures are very effective for interactions. Pointing gesture with a finger would be used for interactions like pie menu selection. It has been researched as to the appropriate numbers of menu items being displayed in a pie menu. However, no research has been made for the case where menus are selected by using gestures. We got the ability of pointing gesture (selection ability) in the 3-dimentional space from the previous research. By combining the obtained resolution abilities of pointing gesture at the 2-dimentional surface of Pitch and Yaw, it is suggested that the selection ability of selection behavior in the 3-dimentional space is 22 areas. We will experiment in order to examine whether the subjects really point 22 areas without vertical guide. As a result, we found they can point 12 areas of 22.

An information filtering method based on user's moods, situations, and preferences

Makoto Oka; Hirohiko Mori; Masaru Saito

We propose a Music Recommendation System (MRS) based on GPS information and users mood. The system records example automatically when user selects the music, and extracts hypothesis by Inductive Logic Programming (ILP). Then the system calculates recommendation rate by the hypothesis, and recommend the music by using roulette strategy.

Proposal of Interaction Using Breath on Tablet Device

Makoto Oka; Hirohiko Mori

We would like to propose an interaction which is operated by blowing a breath on a screen of information terminal. Therefore, we propose and evaluate a device for detecting breath and an algorithm for identifying the breath. While it has been studied conventionally about expiration input device operated by a breath, users are not supposed to blow a breath on a touch panel like an ordinary manual operation on the touch panel but required to blow a breath toward a dedicated input sensor. In our proposed system, it has become possible for a user to perform operations such as selection and determination of objects displayed on a screen by detecting a breath blown out toward a screen of information terminal. In this study, a breath interaction is proposed by allocating various breaths to various operations of a tablet terminal.

Investigation of Learning Process with TUI and GUI Based on COCOM.

Natsumi Sei; Makoto Oka; Hirohiko Mori

In this paper, opportunity to use computer for learning has been on the rise. Therefore, we investigate the effect of the types of user interfaces how learning process is affected by using computer. An analysis was conducted for the verification using a cognitive model COCOM as a reference. Similar means for solving problems were taken for both interfaces when participants stay initial stage. Adopting other measures when getting familiar with such problems, however, it has been proved that participants find out a correct answer by accumulating sub-goal achievement in case of GUI and they figure out a correct answer while taking various measures such as searching of clues and accumulation of sub-goal achievement in case of TUI.
