Abstract Although the Lewis acid promoted allylation of ketones with allylstannanes gives the corresponding tert -homoallyl alcohols in lower yields in comparison with those of aldehydes, the use of Lewis acid–Lewis base combined catalysts such as Zn(OTf) 2 –2,6-lutidine and Zn(OTf) 2 –pyridine dramatically enhances the yield of the tert -alcohols.

(±)-Pterocarpin (8) and other chromanocoumarans were synthesized in one step by the reaction of 2H-chromens with o-chloromercuriphenols in the presence of lithium chloropalladite.

Abstract Preparation and chemical behaviors of cyclopalladated complexes of acetanilides were studied. Coupling reactions of these complexes with olefins afforded a variety of 2-substituted acetanilides which were subjected to intramolecular cyclization ot quinolines.

Abstract The reaction of 3-, 4- and 5-halotropolones with olefins catalyzed by palladium (O) complex gave 3-, 4- and 5-(substituted vinyl) tropolones respectively. Similarly, 2-chlorotropone gave 2-styryltropones. Some tropolonyl- and troponylpalladium-σ-complexes were synthesized.
