Synthesis, Kinetics and Electrochemical Properties of a New Photochromic Diarylethene

Shou Zhi Pu; Ren Jie Wang; Hong Ying Xia; Gang Liu

A new unsymmetrical photochromic diarylethene [1-(2-methyl-5-(3-methoxyphenyl)-3-thienyl), 2-(2-methyl-3-benzothienyl)] perfluorocyclopentene (1a), was synthesized, and its photochromic properties such as photochromism, kinetics and electrochemical properties were investigated in detail. The results showed that the compound exhibited excellent photochromism both in solution and in PMMA film with alternating irradiation by UV/Vis light. The kinetic and electrochemical experiments indicated that the cyclization/cycloreversion process of the compound was determined to be the zeroth/first order reaction, and the electrochemcial switching property can be potential use for electrochemistry data storage. At last, using this dithienylethene as recording medium was performed successfully.

Calculation of Ionization Potential and Electron Affinity of the Optoelectronic Material Iridium (III) Metal Complexes Containing the 2-phenyl Pyridine-Type Ligands

Hong Ying Xia; Guo Hua Ge; Feng Zhao

Solid state ionization potential and electron affinity of iridium (III) metal complexes containing the 2-phenyl pyridine-type ligands was calculated using density functional theory (DFT). It is shown that the calculated results are in well agreement with the experimental values. With this approach, it is convince to obtain solid state ionization potentials and electron affinities of a range of neutral transition metal complexes.

Research and Exploitation of Chorpyriphos Pesticide Microemulsion

Ya Qian Wu; Hong Ying Xia; Feng Zhao

Pesticide formulation science is significant to deal with formulation development, production and storage as well as the interaction of the pesticide with plants, insects, mammals, soil, air and water. Aqueous pesticide microemulsion has become one of the most potential pesticide formulation instead of the conventional pesticide formulation in recent years. Very few works has studied the methodology of pesticide microemulsion preparation with environment-friendly compound. The green environment-friendly chorpyriphos pesticide microemulsion was successfully obtained through the further trials of screening of heat storage and cold storage experiments and the examination of dissociation rate. The optimized chorpyriphos microemulsion formulation is composed of chlorpyrifos (2.366%), ethyl acetate (1.001%), agricultural emulsifier 600(5.714%), natural carboxylate (2.857%), glycol (33.972%), ethanol (14.571%), and water (39.519%).

Nanostructured Morphology of Adsorption of Polyelectrolyte at the Solid/Liquid Interface Observed by Atomic Force Microscopy

Hong Ying Xia; Feng Zhao

In this paper, the morphology change of various polymers at the mica –water interface, such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polystryrenesulfonate (PSS), and partially hydrated polyacrylamide (HPAM) in different environments was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). We found that PVP molecules deposited on mica from aqueous solution appeared in stretched wormlike coils forming densely packed films. In NaCl solution, the globular molecular conformation was observed. For PSS molecules the similar results were obtained. HPAM molecules deposited on the mica surface from aqueous solution at natural pH were observed to form a nanostructured network

Synthesis, Characterization and Photophysical Properties of Rhenium Complex-Containing Polymer PS-b-PMAA(PNPh-Re)

Wen Qu Liu; Hong Ying Xia; Feng Zhao

Two blcok copolymer PSt-b-PtBMA were synthesized by using ATRP method, in acid conditions, and further hydrolysis into amphiphilic copolymers PSt-b-PMAA; the PS-b-PMAA containing transition metal complex was obtained through PNPh-Re covacent-link to PS-b-PMAA chains, and the corresponding copolymers were charcterized by UV-vis and 1 H NMR.

Spectral Properties of the Optoelectronic Material Rhenium (I) Tricarbonyl Complexes with Bipyridine Ligand Containing Triphenylamine Moiety

Hong Ying Xia; Feng Zhao

The photophysical behavior of rhenium (I) complex having a bipyridine ligand with triphenylamidine moiety is investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The complex shows the maximum absorption band at 417.1 nm, with ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (LLCT) character. The lowest lying triplet excited state was localized on 3LLCT/ILCT state

Efficient Synthesis and Photochromic Properties of a New Diarylethene Bearing a Condensed Aromatics Moiety

Ren Jie Wang; Hong Ying Xia; Gang Liu; Shi Qiang Cui

A new class of diarylethenes based on a hybrid structure of thiophene and naphthalene has been developed and its properties including photochromism, kinetics and fluorescence were investigated in detail. The results showed that the compound exhibited obvious photochromism, changing from colorless to red after irradiation with 297 nm UV light both in solution and in PMMA film. The kinetic experiments indicated that the cyclization/cycloreversion process of the compound was determined to be the zeroth/first order reaction in hexane solution. At last, the results demonstrated that the diarylethene compound had attractive properties for potential application in optical storage.

A new unsymmetrical photochromic diarylethene compound, [1-(2-methyl-5-(3-fluorophenyl)-3-thienyl), 2-(2-methyl-3-benzothienyl)]perfluorocyclopentene (1o), was synthesized and its photochemical properties, such as photochromism and fluorescence in solution as well as in PMMA amorphous film were investigated in detail. The results showed that the compound exhibited remarkable photochromism, changing from colorless to violet after irradiation with 297 nm UV light both in solution and in PMMA film. Finally, using this dithienylethene as recording medium, polarization optical recording was carried out successfully.

Preparation of Imidacloprid Microemulsion and its Formula Optimization

Ya Qian Wu; Hong Ying Xia; Feng Zhao

Based on the combinational method of pseudo ternary phase diagram and orthogonal design and taking the study on the imidacloprid microemulsion as example, the method of preparing the pesticide microemulsion was creatively brought forward to remedy the situation of the lack of the research on compounding the microemulsion. The experimental results and the date analysis show that our method is simple and effective, and were expected to provide new ideas and technical methods for the development of pesticide microemulsion.

Ren Jie Wang; Gang Liu; Hong Ying Xia; Shi Qiang Cui

A novel photochromic diarylethene bearing a six-membered aryl unit, 1-[2-methyl-5-(3-fluorophenyl)-3-thienyl]-2-(2-methoxylphenyl)perfluorocyclopentene (1o), was synthesized and its photochromic properties, fluorescence switch and optical recording were investigated in detail. This compound exhibited remarkable photochromism, changing from colorless to blue after irradiation with 297 nm UV light both in solution and in PMMA film, respectively. The new diarylethene also exhibited excellent fluorescence intensity and fluorescence switches by photoirradiation in hexane solution. Finally, photo-mode rewritable optical storage using 1o was performed. The images demonstrated that the compound as optical storage material was very sensitive responding to 633 nm recording laser, and the recorded-signals were provided with high S/N ratio.
