Fang Wang; Hong Yuan Li; Jia Nan Yang

Greening waste biomass is a potentially underutilized renewable biofuel feedstock.Economic, efficient and resource utilization of greening waste is one of important content in modern urban development. In view of the difficulty of disposing the increasing greening waste in China, this paper described the situation of the greening waste disposal and utilization in China. Then it introduced the foreign and domestic development and utilization of greening waste biomass energy. Last, the paper pointed out that compared with developed countries, there were still existed many problems in China. So it needs to solve the existing problems to achieve sustainable development of greening waste.

Life Cycle Inventory Analysis of Offshore Drill Cuttings Management Options

Xiao Ding; Hong Yuan Li; Shan Gao Xiong

The disposal of the drill cuttings is a complex environmental problem. In the paper, two offshore drill cuttings management options are evaluated using life cycle inventory analysis, namely offshore reinjection and onshore solidification. Environmental burdens of the two management options are calculated. Results indicated that: a) From the life cycle perspective, treating 1 m3 drill cuttings, onshore solidification generate more CO2, CO, NOx, COD, TOC and Ammonia nitrogen than reinjection. On the contrary, reinjection generate more PM 2.5, PM10, SOx, Nitrate, and SS than solidification. Which option has less environmental impact needs further assessment. b) Selecting an environment-friendly curing agent is necessary for solidification process to reduce CO2 emissions.

The Study on Key Factors of Soil Seed Bank in Vegetation Restoration

Meng Xuan He; Hong Yuan Li

The soil seed bank (SSB) is regarded as “potential genetic pool” of ground vegetation, which has functions of recalling vegetation history. In practical vegetation restoration engineering, the transplantation of alien species is the most popular method, which will influence the stability of ecological system. The soil seed bank has the advantage ofnatural regeneration,so it will become new afforestation materials. In order to enhance the feasibility of engineering application, orthogonal tests were set with three factors (the top soil thickness, the covering thickness and the number of adding seeds) and three levels. The results showed that:1) compared with blank tests, the orthogonal testshad improved species richness and density of soil seed bank significantly.2) the differences between nine plots in the number of germinated seedlings were very obvious, but in the number of arbor seedlings were not obvious.3)Overall,the Shannon-Wiener index, Simpson index and Pielou index were not high, the distribution of diversity indexes between nine plots was very even, the effect of three factors in the orthogonal testwas not obvious.4)The dominant factors of all the three factors was the topsoil thickness, for it determined the number of contained active seedsdirectly, but the specific influenceshould be determined by range analysis.

The Value Assessment of Ecosystem Service Function in Lingang Wetland Park

Ling Yue Lv; Hong Yuan Li; Jia Nan Yang

In this study, the ecosystem service function value of Lingang wetland park was calculated, such as hydrological regulation, water conservation and purification, biological habitat, erosion control, carbon sequestration and oxygen release port, with the market value method, carbon tax and forestation cost method, shadow engineering method, replacement cost method ,ecological value method and other methods. The results showed that the total ecosystem service function value of this wetland park is ¥1.03×108•a-1. The species habitat, carbon sequestration and oxygen release and hydrological adjusting function value is larger, which is 40.3%, 38.3% and 13.0% of the total value, so they are the main core function value of the Park. Therefore, the scientific and rational planning should be carried out in the development of the wetland park, avoiding influencing the ecosystem service function of this park.

Analysis of Carbon Sequestration and Oxygen Release Capabilities of 25 Afforestation Plants in Tianjin

Fang Wang; Hong Yuan Li; Xin Li; Jia Nan Yang

CI-340 portable photosynthesis test system and JYM-B leaf area meter were employed to observe the physiological velocity and leaf area index of 25 widely used afforestation plants in Tianjin. The results indicate that the diurnal change curve of net photosynthesis rates of 25 experimental species has one or two peaks. The daily carbon sequestration and oxygen release per unit leaf area are respectively 3.98-13.01 g/( m2·d) and 2.9-9.46 g/( m2·d). Among arbors, the order of carbon sequestration and oxygen release capabilities per unit leaf area is Ulmus pumila >Fraxinus velutina>Sophora japonica>Salix matsudana f. pendula>Malus micromalus cv.‘American’>Koelreuteria paniculata>Acer truncatum>Ulmus pumila cv. ‘jinye’>Prunus davidiana>Malus micromalus>Cotinus coggygria > Rhus typhina> Platanus orientalis>Catalpa speciosa>Diospyros kaki> Morus alba cv. ‘Tortuosa’. Among shrubs, the order is Weigela florida>Euonymus japonicus>Cercis chinensis>Ligustrum vicaryi >Sorbaria sorbifolia> Syringa oblata > Lonicera maackii >Cornus alba>Lonicera japonica.

Research Review on the Ecological Function of Biogenic Volatile Organic Compounds

Ling Yue Lv; Hong Yuan Li; Jia Nan Yang

Biogenic volatile organic compounds are a class of small molecule compounds produced by the plant secondary metabolites. Although the contents are relatively low, but have strong ecological effects. In plant communities, the plant can hinder the growth of competing plants around by releasing BVOCs, and it could also enhance the ability to resist predators. At the same time, it can inhibit the pathogenic microorganisms and enhance the disease resistance. In addition, BVOCs can regulate the bodys mental and physical state to exert the health effects. Therefore, the study of the BVOCs’ ecological functions is of great significance.

Study on Soil Seed Bank in Urban Abandoned Land of Tianjin — Take Houtai Wetland for Example

Meng Xuan He; Hong Yuan Li; Lan Lan Li; Fang Wang

Urban abandoned lands play an important role to maintain urban biodiversity. In order to study the characteristics of soil seed bank (SSB) in Houtai Wetland, field survey and laboratory experiment were conducted. After germination test, the results show that the species richness is relatively low, only 12 kinds of species are contained, but the reserves of SSB are abundant. Its density reaches to7.27×105grains/m2, maintaining the same level with coastal wetlands. Glycine soja account for the vast majority of proportion, leading to uneven distribution within species. So the Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index, Simpson Index and Pielou Evenness Index are all lower than ground vegetation. The Sorensen Similarity Index is 0.330, its ability to reproduce ground plants is limited. The suggestions are that appropriate manners should be taken to protect native plants and soil seed bank.

Relationships between Macrobenthos and Environmental Variables in Tianjin Offshore Water

Shao Gao Xiong; Hong Yuan Li; Xiu Ming Wang

With rapid economic and social development in Tianjin coastal area, environmental impact factors are increasingly complex. In order to study the relationships between macrobenthos and environmental variables, macrobenthos and seven environmental variables (including dissolved oxygen, active phosphate, inorganic nitrogen, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and oil) are investigated in the summer of 2004 and 2007. Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) and Redundancy Analysis (RDA) in CANOCO software are all employed in the analysis for mutual authentication of the result. The results indicate that: (1) reactive phosphate and nitrite are the most important impact factor for the macrobenthic community; (2) nitrate is the supplementary factor that explains the macrobenthos data; (3) whether inorganic nitrogen is a key impact factor, it needs further research.
