Spherical MnO2 nanosheet aggregates have been synthesized by the reaction between MnSO4 and KMnO4 at room temperature. After the resulting products are treated under hydrothermal conditions, MnO2 nanorods and tower‐like crystals have been prepared in the absence/presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, respectively. The products are characterized by field‐emission scanning electron microscopy and x‐ray diffractometer, respectively.

The composites of TiO2 nanoparticles (anatase structure, average particle size 20–30 nm) as inorganic particle additive in the polystyrene (PS) were prepared by co‐rotating twin screw extruder. The structure and morphology of the composites were determined by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and x‐ray diffraction (XRD). Titanium (Ti) element distribution on the surface of PS/TiO2 master batch was measured by energydispersive x‐ray microanalysis system. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength and Charpy impact strength were tested and revealed that reached the maximum value when the content of TiO2 nanoparticles is at 1.0 wt%. The composites possess excellent antibacterial and detoxification effect on the familiar bacillus. The antibacteria efficiency of the composites is more than 99% and its detoxification efficiency on the bacterial endotoxin is more than 90%.

The dispersion of TiO2 nanoparticles in high‐impact polystyrene (HIPS) has been studied. The TiO2 nanoparticles obtained are in a uniform diameter of 20–50 nm and an anatase phase. After being treated by a coupling agent of rear earth‐aluminate, the TiO2 nanoparticles can be dispersed uniformly in HIPS by using a co‐rotation twin‐screw extruder and an injection mold. When the content of TiO2 nanoparticles in the composite is 1 wt.%, the optimal mechanical properties are obtained. When the content of TiO2 nanoparticles in the composite is higher than 1 wt.%, the tensile strength and the Charpy impact decrease because some of the TiO2 nanoparticles agglomerate and the bend strength and bend modulus have little hange.

SnSe2 nanosheets with the thickness of 30–50 nm have been synthesized by solvothermal method using ethylene glycol solution as solvent. The influence of synthetic parameter, such as reaction time, on the morphologies of SnSe2 has been investigated. The morphologies and the crystal structures of SnSe2 nanosheets were characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM).
