Abnormal climate events have caused agricultural production decrease and its supply insecurity. These problems, coupled with population growth, have led to food shortage. As a solution to such a situation, plant factories capable of producing farm products regardless of climate or location have garnered broader attention. In this research, we propose a ubiquitous computing-based intelligent plant factory system designed by improving the previous plant factory system with just a simple function of On/Off. The proposed system collects information on necessary environmental factors for plants growth, nutrient solution, etc. through sensors installed in a plant factory and infers contextual information through the ontology based on the collected data to provide corresponding appropriate services to users. In addition, this system supports various application platforms such as web PDA, smart phones, etc. so that users can access its service on the plant factory anywhere and anytime.

This paper proposed a livestock activity monitoring system using acceleration sensor that notifies the livestock condition via PC and smart devices to users upon monitoring the activities of livestock in real-time by attaching Acceleration sensor to livestock. The proposed system provides the disease prediction service that determines disease by examining the condition of livestock based on their measured activities. The lack of prevention and early response that results from the failure of early detection of livestock disease leads to financial loss for farms, and it could lead to even national crisis situation when disease spreads across the country. It is expected that this system can prevention damages to farms and the country by minimizing the damages from diseases by accurately predicting livestock diseases.

The Korean livestock industry is experiencing many difficulties from the increase in production cost as a result of feed & raw subsidiary material cost increases, as well as from opening its market as a result of FTA signing. For the purpose of solving such issues, systematic and scientific livestock technologies are needed for increasing the productivity of livestock breeding and producing high-quality livestock products. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to propose a smart phone application that can monitor and manage livestock farm in real-time at anytime, anywhere by quickly and accurately collecting various types of information on livestock farm. The application being proposed can increase production amount by providing user convenience and creating an optimal livestock breeding environment.
