Paint pellet erythema

To the Editors: Annular erythematous macular, patch, or plaque lesions can be induced by application of positive or negative pressure to the skin. Paint pellets are small, 1.0to 1.5-cm diameter balls containing washable paint of various colors (Fig. 1) that are used in hide-and-seek play and paramilitary training to mark the opponents. Paint pellets are loaded into air or carbon dioxide (CO& propelled handguns and shot toward the subjects under attack to mark them. We report a young man who sustained annular erythematous lesions after having been shot by paint pellets.
