A new design process of a phased array antenna at 2GHz is presented by the simulation method. First a suitable antenna pattern for the radiator of Vivaldi is selected as a slot antenna with light weight, small volume, low cost and high gain. A kind of the analysis software of high frequency structure simulation CST MWS is optimized for the VSWR and radiation pattern. However, several antennas with certain arrangement are often used to make up antenna array to realize beam synthesis. 1*10H-plane linear array and 16*10 planar arrays are designed and simulated in this paper. Since behavior of element is not directly relevant to their behavior in the array, mutual coupling effect is discussed after the radiator design. The influence on the radiation pattern caused by the number of the array, the distance of the adjacent elements and the phase and the amplitude of the source current are all analyzed, and a simulation result for the parameter design of antenna array is analyzed either.

In this paper, 2-D MIMO antenna arrays suitable for high resolution burden surface imaging radar operating in frequency band 24-26GHz are proposed. In order to eliminate the cross-range resolution degradation when the antenna beam radiates to the burden surface in nonperpendicular angle, MIMO antenna arrays with elliptical cross-section beam are specially designed. To suppress the high side lobe level of these designed MIMO arrays, two MIMO array sparse methods by symmetrically sparse the arrays with denser elements in the centre and sparse elements around are presented and analyzed. Patterns of the designed MIMO arrays are simulated, which verified the effectiveness of the MIMO arrays for burden surface imaging.

For the purpose of accurately and quickly level tracing of bulk solid material, a new 24GHz FMCW radar measurement system with fast frequency Improved Phase-Differential estimation algorithm on platform of TI DSP 28335 and the low cost multiplier frequency VCO and mixer is realized, Three kinds of the fast tracing algorithm, Improved CZT algorithm, Improved ZFFT algorithm and the new Improved phased-difference algorithm(IPDA) is compared for the real time and accuracy, The results show that the IPDA is more suitable for the measurement of bulk solid material, and can be higher accuracy and faster speed.
