Fluidic Overspeed Sensor for a Power Turbine

The engineering development of a fluidic overspeed sensor for application to a small demonstrator turboshaft engine is described. The control function provided is protection against power turbine overspeed which might otherwise occur in the event of failure of the prime electrical governor. The design problem is presented, the fluidic circuitry to mechanize a design solution is defined, and the breadboard and prototype bench development is reported. Development emphasis is placed upon the objective of attaining acceptable levels of reliability and maintainability in field operations.Copyright
