There is little evidence of psychometric properties of the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) when used with Taiwans nursing faculty. The purpose of this study was to examine psychometric properties of the Chinese LPI and provide a culturally appropriate instrument for use in Taiwans nursing. Thirteen bachelor and nine associate degree nursing programs were eligible for participation. The Chinese LPI was used to gather nursing facultys perceptions of leadership behaviors of nursing deans and directors. A total of 369 questionnaires were returned. Psychometric examinations used content validity, internal consistency reliability, item analysis, and construct and concurrent validities. Cronbachs alpha of the Chinese LPI total scale was .96. Three factors were extracted that explained 59.5 % of the variance. Concurrent validity was supported by the Chinese Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ-5X). Findings for the psychometric properties and cultural appropriateness of the Chinese LPI supported its potential as an instrument for measuring nursing leadership in Taiwan.

In this study we explored the relationship among obesity, menopausal status, and health behavior among middle-aged women in a rural community of southern Taiwan. This was a cross-sectional study using a face-to-face interview to collect data. Sixty middle-aged women from four community centers participated in this study. The results indicated that approximately 23.3% of the women had body mass index (BMI) ≥27 kg/m2, and 38.3% of the womens waist girths were above 80 cm. Both BMI and waist circumference (WC) of the middle-aged women were significantly different between reproductive and postmenopausal status. The variable of nutrition-related health behavior was significantly and negatively associated with the BMI levels and accounted for 12% of the total variance. An understanding of the factors that contribute to obesity is provided among middle-aged women in Taiwans rural communities.

BACKGROUND Many students today desire an education that can be completed without attending traditional classroom settings. Nursing administrators are responding by increasing the number of online course offerings, which has resulted in more nursing faculty asked to transition coursework from traditional to online classes, often without support. METHOD The sample for this quantitative, descriptive, comparative study included nursing faculty from 15 randomly selected states who participated in an online survey, producing 185 completed surveys for analysis. RESULTS Satisfaction was significantly higher in nursing faculty who taught 20 or more courses online, compared with those who taught five or fewer. Satisfaction was significantly higher for faculty who received mentoring, release time, technical support for software, hardware, the Learning Management System (LMS), and training for the LMS, compared with faculty who did not. CONCLUSION Results offer valuable evidence that support services are important to increase overall faculty satisfaction teaching online. [J Nurs Educ. 2018;57(9):536-543.].

The purpose of this descriptive research was to study the level of ethical climate in the workplace, as perceived by nurses at Songklanagarind Hospital. The sample consisted of 277 registered nurses, who had worked experience of at least 1 year working in Songklanagarind Hospital, and simple random sampling is the selection from 30% of the level of experienced nurse. The tool for data collection consisted of two main parts: 1.) The general information questionnaire, 2.) The questionnaire for the ethical climate in the workplace perceived by nurses. Data were analyzed using percentages, mean, standard variation and ANOVA. The major findings revealed that the average score of the ethical climate in the workplace as perceived by nurses at Songklanagarind Hospital was in the high level (M=3.89, S.D.=0.56). Considering each part, it was found that the means of all six parts scored a rating within the high level. Cultural competence is becoming more a necessity than an option due to the change in the face of cultural populations in the USA. Nurses care for many populations of people and therefore their level of cultural awareness is paramount to the care they deliver. Cultural competence in the nursing profession begins with the nursing student. A university engaged a group of nursing students in a free clinic which served cultures of people not indigenous to the native culture. Student nurses perceived the experience revealing of the care they provided and revealing of the affect of that care on the recipients.
