Driver fatigue is one of the main causes of traffic accidents. Many researchers believe that electroencephalography is very accurate and promising to detect driving fatigue, but so far, the research results have been variable. Through simulation experiments, this paper found when driving at night, delta band varies significantly with the degree of fatigue. The results have implications for real-time automatic detecting driver fatigue at night and are helpful for future development of driver fatigue countermeasures.

The road tunnel which has advantages of improving the alignment criterion, educing travel distance, protecting the natural environment is increased used in China. At present, the related domestic and foreign researches are mainly based on the design scale, lining type, construction methods and difficulty, use and so on. There is little about the length definition of road tunnel based on the drivers’ driving safety and comfort. The driver is client of tunnel. The driving environment of tunnel is different from the outside and tunnel length has impact on the driving safety and comfort. So this paper defines the length of the tunnel based on driving safety and comfort in order that the related scholars who concern and study the tunnel treat them differently. By analyzing the safety and comfort test data of 62 tunnels, we get the shortest tunnel whose length is 450m based on the evaluation index of driving safety and comfort-workload. When the length is less than 450m, the drivers’ workload is low and stable, such tunnels have no significant impact on the driving safety and comfort; When the length is greater than (or equal to) 450m, the drivers’ workload becomes a apparent and consistent law that it increases at the entrance of the tunnel, shows no significant change in the tunnel, it increases again until the tunnel exit. The increased workload is with a certain lead or lag. Because this has a large influence on the driving safety and comfort, we need to consider some safe measures.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) indicators are widely used in driver mental workload studies. Because ECG is always recorded continuously in experiments, ECG indicator data often have trend. To make follow-up data analysis faster and more reliable, ECG indicator data should be preprocessed to remove or extract the trend according to the aim of the experiment. However, most researchers tend to ignore this point. Based on time series theories, this paper proposed a set of methods to preprocess ECG indicator data series. In this paper, the data preprocessing method was described in detail. And an example was given to illustrate and prove the validity of the method.

Driving fatigue is one of the main causes of traffi c accidents. Many researchers believe that electroencephalography (EEG) is an acc urate and promising method to detect driving fatigue. Based on the theories of bi ocybernetics, this article developed an EEG-based driving fatigue prediction indicator, and the process of calculating it was detailed. After indoor-experimental verificatio n, it was found that the indicator has a good linear correlation with spirit response speed. The results have implications for predicting driving fatigue and are helpful for future development of driving fatigue countermeasures.
