Aerodynamic Optimization of a Simplified SUV Model

The aerodynamics characteristics of square Mira model were researched by simulation and wind tunnel test. The velocity distribution, pressure distribution, drag coefficient and the aerodynamic characteristics around model were achieved. With contras the results of simulation and wind tunnel test, it validated the veracity of simulation. Based on results, the back spoiler was added and the fixing angle was changed. The drag coefficient was achieved. The conclusions provide reference for how to reduce drag coefficient of SUV.

Aerodynamic Optimization Research on External Shape for a Sedan Based on Numerical Simulation

The aerodynamics characteristics of sedan model were researched by simulation, the drag coefficient and the aerodynamic characteristics around model were achieved with analysis of velocity and pressure distribution. Based on results, the below transition radius of rear-view mirror, the angle of back window and trunk lid and back trunk were optimized. The drag coefficients were reduced. The conclusions provide reference for how to reduce aerodynamic drag coefficient of sedan when developing the external shape of a new sedan.

Research on Characteristics of External Flow in Region of Passenger Car's Wheels

The technology of computer modeling and simulation is applied to compute and analyze external flow field of the wheels for a medium-class passenger car. Comparisons are drawn between the different results of flow field around the wheels in case that the flow field is modeled and solved with the two different boundary conditions of wheel: one is the stationary wall and the other is the rotating wall. And further we investigate the characteristics of external flow field of rotating wheels. It is concluded that the boundary condition of rotating wheels should be introduced when simulating and testing.
