3-D metal-direct-printed wideband and high-efficiency waveguide-fed antenna array

The Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) 3-D printing technique is used to fabricate a relatively large 8×8 wideband waveguide array with an integrated corporate-fed network. This DMLS rapid prototyping technique offers the flexibility to fabricate complicated waveguide-based structures with good reliability and high-precision. Experimental results show antenna efficiency is higher than 80% over a wide operation bandwidth and even exceeding 90% at most frequencies. This work demonstrates the 3-D DMLS technique is a promising manufacturing method for the fabrication of complex waveguide antenna arrays.

A Wideband Full-Corporate-Feed Waveguide Slot Planar Array

A wideband full-metal planar antenna array with full-corporate feed-network is proposed. Cavity and slot are used as the basic radiation element and T-shaped walls are employed in the cavity to achieve wide bandwidth. E-plane waveguide feed-network configuration is utilized so as to suppress wave leakage between adjacent layers when the antenna is fabricated by a conventional machining technique. An 8 × 8 antenna array prototype with optimized parameters is tested. Experimental results show that the bandwidth of VSWR <; 2.0 is up to 36.9% (10.24 - 14.87 GHz). More than 60% aperture efficiency and higher than 23.4 dBi gain are achieved over the operational bandwidth.

Dual circular polarized array with metal 3D-printing

A low profile wideband 16×16 waveguide array with dual circular polarizations is proposed. A 90 degrees hybrid is integrated with the array to obtain the dual circular polarizations. The whole metal structure is adopted to achieve high radiation efficiency. This antenna will be fabricated with Metal 3D Printing.
