With the evolution of various high power-density machines, it becomes important to optimize the power potential of machines of vastly different topologies with a variety of waveforms of back emf and current. The approach of this paper is based on the general-purpose sizing equations which permit the optimization method of machine power density to be applied to the axial-flux toroidal permanent-magnet (AFTPM) machine, and, furthermore, the power-production capabilities of the AFTPM machine and the well-known squirrel-cage induction machine are compared.

This paper presents an adaptive filter for fuzzy-logic controller for vector controlled based speed controller incorporating with a maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive to minimize the torque ripple. The design and optimization of the FLC, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and the adaptation algorithms are presented. Different operating conditions have been studied including various speed commands with nominal and changes in the load torque. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for the IPMSM drive has been found to maintain high performance standards with a much simpler and less computation implementation. An open loop adaptive filter is used to give a fast response while retaining a good noise canceling properties. The simulation was done by using Matlab/Simulink. The simulated results confirmed that the considerable torque ripple reduction can be achieved by utilizing an adaptive filter with FLC.

A sliding-mode observer (SMO) is an important robust control approach. It is applied to estimate the rotor position of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive incorporating maximum torque per ampere (MTPA). This paper presents a novel adaptive fuzzy-logic controller (FLC) with a sliding mode sensorless control. The resistance has a strong influence to the speed estimation especially for the speed sensorless control. The stator resistance estimation based on the error of the d-axis current. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for the IPMSM drive has been found to maintain high performance standards with a much simpler and less computation implementation. The design and optimization of the FLC are presented. A Lyapunov approach is used to determine the stability properties. The Matlab/Simulink results have been given under different operating conditions. The simulated results confirmed the robustness of the proposed system.)

In this paper electric load is forecast for the classified power consumers of Shanghai urban area for the scheduled years in short term and in long term respectively. The monthly load in 1999 is forecast on the basis of the data during 1992–1998, and the approximate load in 2010 is forecast on the basis of the data during 1990–1998.
