The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the type of masculinity on appearance-oriented and appearance management behavior. Questionnaires were administered to 201 males 20s to 50s living in Daegu. The SPSS 20.0 package was utilized for data analysis which included frequency analysis, Cronbachs α, factor analysis, cluster anal- ysis, regression analysis, t-test and logistic regression. First, factor analysis in a appearance management behavior and the type of masculinity, were cluster analysis in appearance-oriented. Were used to analyze the problem of the study by classified five factors and two groups. The results of this study were as follows: First, the masculinity of Retro sexual, Metro sexual, Techno sexual showed a negative influence on appearance-oriented. Second, the masculinity had a influence on appearance management behavior. M-ness showed a negative influence on skin care, Metro sexual showed a positive influence on skin care, hair/fashion, cosmetics, plastic surgery. And Retro sexual showed a influence on skin care, positive influence on hair/fashion, cosmetics. Techno sexual showed a positive influence on body management, skin care, hair/fash- ion. Uber sexual showed a positive influence on body management, cosmetics of appearance management. Third, the appearance-oriented had a differences on body management, hair/fashion, cosmetics, plastic surgery of appearance man- agement behavior.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of womens appearance instrumentality, appearance concern and appearance management behavior. Data were collected from questionnaires of 243 women in their 20s and 30s living in Daegu. The data were statistically analyzed using frequency analysis, Cronbachs α, factor analysis, logistic regression analysis, multiple regression analysis and t-test. Factor analysis was used for appearance instrumentality and appearance management behavior, and appearance concern was classified into two groups based on their mean value after factor analysis. This was used to analyze the study problem. The results of this study were as follows: Appearance instrumentality did not significantly influence the appearance concern group and appearance instrumentality significantly influenced appearance management behavior. Social achievement significantly influenced speciality beauty management behavior and basic beauty management behavior, and lover relationship significantly affected plastic surgery behavior and fashion behavior. However interpersonal relationship did not significantly affect appearance management behavior. There was a significant difference in the appearance concern group for all five factors of appearance management behavior(speciality beauty management behavior, body management behavior, plastic surgery behavior and basic beauty management behavior , hair management behavior, fashion management behavior). In conclusion, this study provides basic data for formulating marketing strategies for appearance industry-related markets according to the perception of appearance instrumentality. In addition it has research significance by providing useful support for the development of specialized product ideas according to each type of appearance instrumentality.

This study identified the aesthetic characteristics of the face description in late Joseon Dynasty beauty paint- ings. A total of 24 beauty paintings were selected as representative of the late Joseon Dynasty genre of painting works. The paintings were analyzed by the shape, color, and physiognomy of beauty trends from the components of womens faces expressed in the works of artists. The results of this study showed that the shape of the face components expressed a round, curved and thin line. Colors were expressed through Obang-sack (a traditional Korean color). Also the phys- iognomy of the late Joseon Dynastys women was soft, wise, economical and brilliant. A round-forehead meant that eco- nomical and virtuous housekeeper, thin crescent shaped eyebrows denoted women of wisdom and excellent sensitivity. Single long thin eyelids and implied a women of longevity. A round curved nose were eager tobe a wise mother and a good wife. Small concave lips were desired eagerly by gentle and intelligent women. A curve face implied a subjective women of insight and good memory. In conclusion, the late Joseon Dynasty beauty paintings expressed a traditional Korean beauty face and a modern baby face. The data are useful for the aesthetic standards of modern through meaning of Korean traditional beauty.
