This paper has a background of SMMD (Single Media Multi Device) control technology for causing various actual feeling effects about one media source. SMMD technology adds metadata controlling arbitrary multiple devices in one MPEG-4 media. A home server produces a control command from metadata and delivers control message to a sensory effect device using the ZigBee communication. A device produces an internal interface command or specific IR code for controlling an actual feeling effect device. IR codes are different by products and each manufacturer. A home server has the function of learning IR codes and manages the IR code profile. A ZigBee coordinator manages several ZigBee end devices. A ZigBee end device controls some sensory effect devices. We propose a control mechanism about ZigBee control and ZigBee-to-IR control device and implement a demo system.

In a case of adding sensory effect metadata to media and generating sensory experience based media to provide a sensory experience media service, this paper provides a method of generating an annotation of to a sensory effect to enable a user to add the sensory experience metadata faster and more easily and conveniently, and a method of generating the sensory effect metadata based on the generated annotation.

In this paper, we propose a real-sense vestibular rehabilitation systems using sensory experience based on multiple sensory media. This system provides realistic vestibular rehabilitation exercises through IPTV channel without visiting a rehabilitation center. It provides sensory effects like wind, light, scent, vibration and so on in order to provide pleasure and durability.

Making films in 3D has become popular and successful by providing 3D effects. Even by providing more effects on top of the 3D effects, it is possible to provide more immersion in terms of user experience by adding sensory effects other than the traditional video and audio. Especially, 4D movies which includes sensory effects, such as wind, vibration, lighting, scent and so on, can stimulate human sensory system by deployed sensory effect devices such as fans, motion chairs, lighting devices and scent generators. As for sensory effects, sensory effect devices have different capacities and performances. Moreover, users also have their own preferences on sensory effects in consuming multimedia. The system proposed in this paper can adapt the capacity of the sensory effect devices and the preference of the consumers. By using this system, users can have different effects even though the 4D media has single descriptive sensory effect metadata.

In this paper, we propose a system and method for processing media in a convergence media service platform, which provide convergence media into which one or more sensory effects have been inserted based on media and user interaction feedback.

In this paper, we propose a system and a method for providing contents using an open application program interface (API) by particularly to a system for providing contents that discloses the network resources to each user so that he/she can provide application services adequate to personal taste, the purpose of contents providing service. According to a system and method for providing contents using an open API according to this paper, by adding and reediting communication capability components to the contents that are provided to create mega-contents and registering the communication capability components as a portal service, a contents provider can provide a personal contents service suitable to the taste and specialty of each individual, company and organization and the purpose of providing service. Furthermore, by using an open API, network resources may be safely disclosed to a third party independently of the networks feature and protocol, and by using the communication functions, communication functions with another party may be provided

In this paper, we propose two application services using Open API considered BcN (broadband convergence network). First service is communication service for disabled person. It enables a person having a disability in communication means, such as visual, auditory or speech disabilities, to freely and efficiently communicate with other disabled persons and non-disabled persons for the exchange of thoughts or feelings. Another service is personal contents portal service providing contents using Open API by particularly to a system for providing contents that discloses the network resources to each user so that he/she can provide application services adequate to personal taste, the purpose of contents providing service. According to the system for providing personal contents in this paper, it supports functions adding and reediting communication capability components to the contents. So a contents provider can provide a personal contents service suitable to the taste and specialty of each individual, company and organization and the purpose of providing service. Furthermore, by using an Open API, network resources may be safely disclosed to a third party independently of the networks feature and protocol, and by using the communication functions, communication functions with another party may be provided
